Still if someone is truelly sorry in their heart, then I hope that they can be forgiven.
I'm not saying that definitly applies in this case.
I wrote lots more in the similar thread in the Chat forum.

Nothing. The parents of whom she abused and killed would never have forgiven her. I can't imagine the pain they go through each day, thinking about what she did. And also, it wasn't just murder. Remember, the tape? It was 16 minutes long. Now that, I feel, is unforgivable.
Plus, on the matter of releasing her, she wasn't in prison because of the crimes any more. She was in prison for her own safety, because if the public got hold of her, well
And finally, I think possibly part of the angst of some was that they didn't get the death sentence (hanging), of which had been abolished only a few years before they were convicted.
Its an odd bit of news this one. Not one that I have an strong feelings about. I don't feel sad, but I equally don't want to jump up and down and say hurrah.
But here is a question. She served her time in prison, repented, and died and people still won't forgive her for what she did. What else could she have done to be forgiven?

Well, it saves us feeding and clothing her through taxes! ;-)

Lol ! Liberal ? God I hope Goatboy comes on this topic and see's you've written that :) My point is that her death serves no purpose and doesn't put right what happened. As it was she died chained to a hospital bed, already suffering from angina and other illnesses, surrounded by 3 guards. thats a bad way for anyone to die and I can't see how anyone can get any sense of satisfaction from it. Sure, you can argue that, after 36 years in prison, she was still a danger to children, and you might be right, but you're seriously telling me a 60 year old angina and asthma sufferer is a major threat when a vat majority of child killings and abductions are comitted by someone who knows the child in the first place ?
It's like they've had Sarah Payne's mum on TV today promoting this Child Kidnap Alert thing, and she says it could have saved Sarah, and Jessica and Holly's, lives. It couldn't have. The first example had no witnesses to the abduction and she was taken by a relative, and in the second example they were taken by a teacher and the school caretaker who nobody suspected until later on in the enquiry. With the system in place the alert would have been based on the caretaker's witness account of being the last to see them, and he was lying from the start.
~~Belldandy~~ *whose rather surprised at being called a liberal....*

Pretty much says all that needs to be said.
