I'm running ME at home and have had tons of problems recently. It may be since I deleted some files using Ad-Aware, it may be coincidental.
One minor problem is that my IE has given up on any sites using javascript. I can browse most sites though and have just installed Opera to access Hotmail etc. Annoying. I've tried installing a new version, re-insalling the OS etc.
The more annoying problem is Media Player crashing every time I try to run it. I've downloaded new versions but can't remove the problem. Ive got a couple of other media players (e.g. Ultra Player) which is OK but won't let me fast forward so I have to watch the whole file in one go or nothing.
The real problem is that because I reinstalled, every time my PC reboots it tries to run that crappy Welcome To Windows video, using Media Player, and crashes Media Player. So I can never check the box to tell it to never show me the video again.
It's very annoying. Any ideas?

Theres something wrong with having 'I feel for you' and 'getting to the interesting bits of porn clips' in the same sentence.

I feel for you. It's bloody annoying having to sit through all the idle chat just to get to the interesting bits of the larger porn clips, isn't it? ;-)
... make sure you have the right driver for your video card
... goto Control Panel -> System -> Performance and turn down the 'Graphics acceleration' slider
When you're system is booting press F8 until you get the boot menu. Select 'Safe Mode'. Hopefully there won't be any welcome movies to crash your system. Now do Start Menu -> Run... In the dialog box type 'msconfig'.
There are various tabs in this program (I can't remember exactly because I don't have ME anymore), but the ones you want are to do with initialising programs on start-up. One of them is probably called 'Start up' or 'Start menu'. Look for anything suspicious - 'Welcome Movie' or 'Gates - I've got you now ha!ha!ha!' - that might be playing the movie on start-up, and untick its box. There are other possible tabs, like 'win.ini' or 'autoexec.bat'; maybe someone using ME can confirm this. After unticking a bunch of stuff, restart your PC, and pray.
If this doesn't work then the movie is probably being played because of a registry value, which someone with ME could probably find out.
A better solution would be downloading Mozilla :)
About Media Player, I don't have a clue. Is the problem only movie files? Or does it crash when playing mp3s as well?
