There are plenty of better scams around than those competitions. I like mailround, who pay a min of £4 a month for me to have sdverts on my incoming emails. Easy money.

Every day I look at the list of competitions closing soon, and enter all of the decent ones, but I've yet to win a thing.
In fact, the only thing I have won in the last few months is Gameaday, and I consider that to be down to my skill, rather than luck ; )
