Why?
Is it because Americans are greater consumners and with the large amount of choice available, you have to cram those DVDs with enough features to convince the Yankees to buy your disc as opposed to the other one?
Who cares. Region 2, in fact, licks balls.
I got Spiderman this morning and Mallrats.
My all time favourite Kevin Smith movie on DVD, with a buncha stuff.
Compare:
Mallrats: Region 1 - Special Features: None
Mallrats: Region 2 - Feature commentary with Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Ben Affleck, Jason Lee and Scott Mosier. Over one hour of deleted scenes with intros by cast and crew. Live footage from commentary session. Featurette. Trailer. MCA soundtrack presentation. Production photographs.
It's just no contest.
And Donnie Darko arrives tomorrow, whilst us stupid Limeys still go watch it in the cinema.
Region 1 rules all.
Play.Com rules all for Region 1 DVDs.
Snootch to the nootch
When it says an item costs 8.99/14.99 etc, is that actually all you pay?
I got a load of CD's from somewhere online (may have been CDNOW or something) and the postman arrived with them but wouldn't give em to me until I payed customs tax and VAT which ended up being a fortune.
Ta for your help!

www.techtronics.com
shedloads of high-end multi region players.
If I am in a hurry for the film (see AOTC) though, then InterDVD usually deliver next-day more often than not and are a little more expensive.

I buy my reg 1 anime from:
Play.com - though at the moment they are taking a bloody age in accepting my Solo card :(
www.up1.co.uk - large amount of anime and reliable but VERY expensive.
www.otaku.co.uk - quite expensive but sells loads of dvds/cds/merchandise, plus they sell a few Japanese anime dvds.
www.dc-dvd.net - sells a large amount of anime, but again, are quite expensive.
www.movietyme.com - hasn't got a massive anime range, but still sells lots, and is VERY reliable and most of the time VERY VERY quick.

Yes, I must invest in that someday... if only I wasn't so broke
Mystique, didn't you once say that you thought all DVD players were multi-regional? Classic
The Back to the Future Trilogy
Region 4 = £17.99
Region 2 = £25.99+
ANNNNND!! The region 4 version works on region 2 players. Yup. Tried it on my PS2.
I've had it for well over two months and you Region 2 mooks are still waiting.
:p
