Now I know many think the series lost it's way in series 7 and 8, but the episodes of 8 that had the budget were actually very good, so a one off special sounds like it could work.
Anyway, the Official Red Dwarf site hasn't posted the news yet, but it does sound pretty definite.
Update:
3 episodes from 10-12th April.
Making of and outtakes/best of by Patrick Stewart.

The Sun - 1
pb - 0
;) apparently filming begins in January and into February (Source: Robert Llewellyn's Twitter)
Yes, it is for Dave, not the BBC (stupid Beeb), BUT...it's not clips, well one is, but even that is not tried and tested clip shows...
Show One - The Making Of The Specials
A highly entertaining look at what goes on behind the scenes on a Red Dwarf production.
Show Two - Red Dwarf Special: Part One
The cast get back into character, and costume, a decade on...
Show Three - Red Dwarf Special: Part Two
The adventure continues...
Show Four - A Clip Show With a Serious Difference
The cast do it their way. Red Dwarf as you have never, ever seen it before!
So all in all it should be pretty good.
Robert's latest Youtube spells out that there will be 2 new proper episodes and then they're going to 'try something brave'. Live shows? Improv? In Space?
