There was nothing he could do about the o.g. - it was covered until Gilberto deflected it - and they say he was 'too slow' to get to the penalty. Well, I'm sorry, but how many keepers fail to get to penalties?! At least he went the right way.
On a different note, I hope Freddie lets his hair grow back - it looks stupid, like he hasn't got his wig on straight!
Arsenal's Patrick Vieira felt Jan Koller dived to earn Borussia Dortmund a penalty on Wednesday night but refused to condemn his actions.
Under-fire Gunners goalkeeper David Seaman was judged by Spanish referee Mejuto Gonzalez to have tripped Czech hitman Koller even though contact was minimal.
But Seaman's skipper Vieira insisted he "felt sorry'' for Gonzalez for wrongly awarding the spot-kick which condemned Arsenal to their fourth straight defeat.
He said: "I don't feel sorry for David Seaman, why would I? It was not a penalty at all and I feel sorry for the referee because he made the wrong decision.
"I don't feel sorry for David because he went for the ball and the guy (Koller) had no chance.
"Even if he passed David, there was no chance he would get the ball and score and that guy just dived."
But despite accusing Koller of taking a tumble on purpose, Vieira shrugged off the setback as one of those things that happens in football.
The France star added: "It is disappointing, of course. But in the end fair play to him. Sometimes it works for us and tonight it went against us - you just have to accept it and get on with it.
"It was a strange night because we lost the game and we went through to the next round. It was a good night because our objective at the start of the competition was to go through to the next round."
Meanwhile, Koller insisted there had been no cheating on his part, and added: "It was a penalty, I didn't dive."
stupid man u fans and the media are the idiots.
Still refuses to "push the panic buttons". 8 goals conceded in 4 games, with only half as many returned. Sure, the gunners are doing well to be consistently scoring even still, but when you slump to your fourth defeat in a row, regardless of whether or not your "objective" is achieved, the team has a problem. If Wenger keeps saying "never mind lads, better luck next time" the team won't acknowledge that the defeats going against them are their own fault.
A series of defensive errors have led to their recent form. I mean come on, it was a good strike, but letting a 16 year old footballing novice put one past you is just embarrassing, and the team need a good rolicking.
If Wenger continues to go easy on the team, the team will continue to lose.
Arsenal next play Fulham, and the way they're going, are headed for a fifth defeat, the third against a mediocre Premiership side. God help them if they come up against a decent premiership team on their form.

> these things happen in football
True - but when the ref is conned by SUCH a blatant dive, it does make it that much harder to accept. At least if he went down convincingly you could forgive the ref.
> but I agree about koller diving -- disgraceful.
Moreso after their coach accused Arsenal of diving!
I don't know what's going on with them lately, but they need to shake out of it quickly. Had the feeling throughout tonight's match that Dortmund were there for the taking, IF we could get our stuff together. But we couldn't.
It's almost as if the return of Freddie and Robert has upset the entire balance of the team.
Mind you, the ref was a complete sucker regarding their penalty.
But still, had we made a better effort of it, it wouldn't have mattered.
I just hope this is our 'usual' dodgy November come a month early.
The really disappointing thing is, we all know what the team is capable of - the just seem to be misfiring all at once. It is painful to watch sometimes.
