I know what your going to say "Not another Rare topic!" but this is a bit different. Since I read the CUBE magazine in the latest issue I am outraged at what I have learned.
Since RARE has just released SFA before moving to MS, MS will get a small percentage of the money RARE gets from the sales of SFA! They are getting money off the game us Nintendoids have released (well soon for Europe).

Just thinking but if all the games that are out for each console that are out now were on the console at its launch date and all consoles were released at the same time, i see nintendo winning hands down really.

Also nintendo hold rights to a lot more stuff than we think, trust me, althought PD and banjo and conker deffinatly are rares :( oh well.

Yes, yes there will. Nintendo themselves decided to make it. I think.
Rare do not have the rights of DK, only of Perfect Dark, Kameo and Banjo Kazooie

hmm... isn't this venturing a little off topic, anyway RARE made good games but they just can't compete with some Ninty hosted games anymore such as "Celda" Mario and others games including Metroid Prime/Fushion, F-Zero and Eternal Darkness.

id rather they do that, then after a few years when its got no chance keep making GB's and then multiformat manybe..that way we only have to choose between halo, rare games and GTA and MGS games :)

Sony have no chance, microsoft will just keep piling money in and MAKE them the winners.

too right that way the cost will go down and each will better the other, i never see one of them winning, becuase they will still make money no matter what.

The Xbox has a new redesigned controller out within the next couple of days. It's called the controller S or something.
It's meant to be an improvement on the old version and will gradually replace it as the standard one.
As to the next generation.
I think Nintendo will keep making money on the Gamecube.
Their plans are based around clever and imaginative games rather than more powerful hardware. It costs money to devellop, promote and release new hardware so Nintendo will only bother if it's REALLY neccessary.
Xbox2 and PS3 will be released around the same time (MS refuse to let Sony get the upper hand this time) and will both likely be VERY powerful and will be very heavily based around online play.
Hopefully there will be no dominant winner in this little scuffle and both will give the other a run for it's money.

The next era will be the best because this one was a mixed bag i feel.
this era:
PS2 - early and could more than live of the success of the PS1, and being out first meant they had more games developed for it. and thousand of games to buy from the PS1.
GC - after the bad N64 era i think no other comapny could pull off the remarkable recovery.
Xbox - new, controller was bad, everyone hates microsoft.
next era:
PS3 - I think they will have a tougher time as all consoles should be released at the same time, sure the playback ability will sale. But now they have lost many of their exculsive games, final fantasy, resi evil etc.
GC2 - they will maybe stick to the old game only console, now they are thinking more about america and europe and all that money they surely must have a chance.
Xbox2 - in my veiws they will take of computer gameing sometime, they will just buy more developers...and really i see nothing wrong with the console itself just the controller.
I wil buy GC2 no matter what as i love mari,zelda etc games.
Ps2 are now stuck becuase n64 vs ps1 were totally diffrent console "mature" vs "kiddy" gamers..and they had the money to do things.
Now GC HAS the kiddy market cornered and thexbox has so much money anything sony so they will do better, they can do an...stop it boz.... Xbox buy nintendo...game domination.

Sure, the PS2 might be outclassed and performed but that hasn't stopped it from beating the combined sales of both the Xbox and Gamecube (not total - this is weekly sales!!!).

Good point, i think that goldeneye was the biggest thing that rare made on the n64, yes id heard of them before with killer instinct and donkey kong country but i didnt know a lot about developer and exclusive developers etc. Until i got goldeneye and then started to read mags i never knew how big Rare actually was.
Shooters and platformers are rares thing, shooters are out by the bucket load now so perfect dark 0/2 wont be missed as much as if it was one of a few shooters out, sure it will be big but now instead of watching PD and thinking "thats amazing" we can go "thats amazing, pass me TS2/metroid.
Banjo and conker in my veiw will be the biggest thing by them on the xbox, cause like you said theres not much else to rival it on that console.
This move helps microsoft and nintendo, microsoft now has one of the best developers in the worl don their console, and nintendo has money to do what they like, god i hope those BIG anocuments would hurry, and i also see that with xbox getting "kiddy" games like banjo it will show "adult" gamers that blood and gore arnt everything.
Im more worried about what sony have planned for PS2, so far theres already about the same amount of AAA titles on xbox and GC in the first 6 months than PS2 has had for 2 years. Internet cant save them i dont think, they need something new and orginal.
