The Daily Mail tries to pin the gales yesterday on Al Queda and Bin Laden, offering it as another excuse to "go in" to Iraq?

(starts stopwatch and waits for Belldandy)

The gales blew a tree over next door, basically smashing their pond, loads of ornaments, and a large area of fencing. Their garden is now one big mess.

While my garden stands unharmed. Guess who's feeling smug now.

The wind has taken quite a few of our roof tiles over the years, im surprised its only been a few, the wind gets REALLY strong in our area. Especially since our house forms the gable end.

Exactly. A horrendous loss for the family, yet no damage befell myself indoors.

On a more sombre note - A 3 year old boy was killed here yesterday (Felixstowe) by a falling tree. He was being pushed in a buggy through an area called The Grove which is basically a young woodland area on the side of some football pitches which are on an area know as windward ho - because it is on the top of a hill and open and therefore is always very windy.

I do feel sorry for the mother and family obviously but also have to question the reasons for walking in such an area when so many warning had been issued about the strong winds of yesterday morning.

I concur, we are ill prepared. People just think that frost appears overnight "as if by magic". I think that Iraqi Icebergs are the cause.

those blinkin' gales took my fence down onto my car and left a really big gash across the driver door.

I'm going over to personally give bin laden the slap he deserves.

Ah but surely our constant ill-preparedness for sky-based violence should indicate that we are only too susceptible to such a blustery attack?

Each year we act surprised when the weapons of mass-cumulus are used against us.
Example: Yesterday was horrendous gales, yet I saw people driving about still. I ask you, brave (foolhardy) commuters, or EVIL AGENTS OF AL-CUMULS NIMBUS?

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
