Playstation ONE, Still The Worlds Most Popular Games Console.

With Sony releasing the Playstation Two this Christmas, the Playstation One (The Original Playstation) has been a little overlooked. However Sony’s first step into the console market is still The Worlds, and Britain’s most Popular Games Console.
Plus, with so many Playstation One’s already out there, which presents a big userbase companies are likely to keep producing quality games for the next few years.
There’s never been a better time to own a Playstation One, with classic games such as Driver , MetalGearSolid , Crash Bandicoot 3 , Resident Evil 3 , Toy Story 2 and Tekken 3 now available for under £20. With many other great games such as Tomb Raider 2 even cheaper at only £9.99. Plus as the Playstation One has the largest selection of games available for any games console, meaning there are games available to cater for all tastes.

If you’ve never owned a Games Console the Playstation One is a good starting point, and can be picked up cheaply from Special Reserve for only £79.99. Heres what you get:

A Playstation One with a Dual Shock Controller, RF Lead Plus a Free Extra Controller and Free 1MB Memory Card.

As for those of us already lucky enough to own a Playstation One you’ll be glad to see that theres a load of great new releases available this for this Christmas, heres just a few of the great new games that are coming out this Christmas:

Driver 2 , Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Round 2 , 007 - The World Is Not Enough , DinoCrisis 2 , WWF Smackdown 2 , Medal of Honour Underground , Alien Resurrection , Tomb Raider 5 Chronicles.

So if your looking for a great console with some great games (at an affordable price) this Christmas then you cant go wrong with a Playstation One.

If Gameboy is a Handheld Device and Dreamcast is a "TV Internet box" doesn't that make the PSX an "Old Grey Box"?

Anyway the Playstation 2 isn't a games console according to the makers of it! It's a Computer Entertainment Device!

Most games do. Games like Metal Gear Solid, GT2, Dino Crisis, Medal of Honor and FF8 all look much more smoother. You can notice it straight away. You need to play about with the PSOne settings from the machine first to make them look better, but not every game is garuanteed to work. I have tried Tomb Raider, Driver and Micro Machines v3 on the smoother settings but it doesnt seem to have any effect. Also the loading time seems to be quicker for some titles.

Glad to here it Mattyboy, So do the PlaystationOne games actually look better on the PlaystationTwo. Sony said that some games, especially the true 3D games will look better on the PlaystationTwo,...since you seem to have a class line up of PlaystationOne games and youve got a PlaystationTwo to play them on, Do you notice an improvement?

Absolutely!!! Having just got my Playstation 2, the backwards compatibility is a god send. I was not entirely impressed with the PS2 launch titles so I only have 2 games at the moment TTT and SSX and it will take a while before we get the instant classics. So for the time being I am already looking at a line up of 300+ PSOne titles.
I have most the class games already, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider 1, Driver, Medal of Honor, WWF Smackdown 2, Res Evil 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, Dino Crisis. And it looks like this Christmas PSOne games will be top of my list, I am hoping to get Medal of Honor Underground, Alien Resurrection, Driver 2 and maybe ISS Pro Evolution.
So while I wait for games such as Metal Gear Solid 2, Gran Turismo 3, The Bouncer, Star Wars Starfighter I can buy some brilliant games at nearly half the price of PS2 titles!! Brilliant!!

Okay, please accept my apologies. It's just that there aren't that many well-written, intelligent articles appearing on here recently, as it has - hopefully temporarily - devolved into another round of "mine's better than yours" willy-waving. As such when I do come across a decent item, I get a bit suspicious.

Call me a cynic if you like! And now you know why I had my suspiscions, hopefully you can feel flattered rather than offended. :-)
