To cut costs, i requested that no OS was installed, as i already have win98, which im content enough with.
So im all up and running, put in the windows CD in, and it says i have nowhere to write to. I check, and yes, the C: doesnt exist, it cat write on the HD yet.
So where now? Any help would be much appreciated!!
thanks

Now im at a:\
Dir checks the disk and finds all the files it should do from the boot disk.
Typing fdisk tells me that
No fixed disks present.
!?!? is this a prob i have becoz im lucky enough to inherit a broken computer?
I wanna cry! :(
Boot disk in,
This is what i get:
Searching for Boot Record from CDROM..Not found
Searching for boot record from SCSI..Not found
Boot Failure
Insert BOOT Diskette in A:
Press any key
So i made sure the disk was in, check, made sure it was an actual boot disk, check. Still repeats the above. It doesnt even sound as if it checks the disk.
But, I would *really* recommend you get yourself a copy of Win2K or WinXP, because 98 is fantastically lame.
Then it has a list
Type >>> Auto
Cylinders
Heads
Write Precompensation
Sectors
Maximum Capacity
LBA Mode
Block Mode
Fast Programmed I/O Modes
32 Bit Transfer Mode
i dont know any of this information about my hard drive at all. Am i screwed or is there still a way round?
