Would anyone here switch ISP's, if they could get limited unmetered access, at a great price, where you choose your number of hours you want that you dont have to pay for on pay as you go?

I would.... so what price would anyone put on 100, 200, and 300 hours worth of unmetered access? I would put it at around 7, 8, and 11 (all GBP) respectfully... anyone have any ideas? This is what I think will make the ultimate ISP, the low cost part - why pay more, and you use it less?

Yes, I will be setting my very own ISP up, inorder for it to be up and running for the beginning of next year. I was going to be offering just metered access to start of with, then expand to pay as you go. Then if I can, I will be setting up broadband - which I still believe will be cheaper than most of the big internet companies here...

... Anyone interested..??

Just count yourself luck you don't live in my area then, you'd have a few words to say about Pipex.

You know they cut me off for a whole month. Still havn't responded to my clams for refunds.

Quite interesting that article. I remember having 0800 access and I used it for some thing like 60-70 hours a week. I would just have it on all the time while I was at home downloading. It started out at £50 for the 1st year then it went up to £90 the second year. Its amazing I wasnt chucked off for using it loads. Good thing is now I have ADSL, and limits don't apply any more. You pay your monthly subscription and get a 24/7 line which you can use as much or as little as you like.

Am I reading that right, your planning on setting this up as your own ISP??

If so, you got £150,000 or so spare for the Broadband pipe to be put in by BT :o)

The limit hours does seem like a cool idea, but I think it is to late in the Internet generation to be setting up connection like this. You want to be going for better prices than currently on offer, not matching them, as if your a new provider, people may just go for who they know (Freeserve, for example).

Again, did I read that correctly, that you plan on setting this up???

The costs still seem reasonable... as I am just setting a non-losing pice, and I will not lose a penny over this whole port thing. As the whole system will be owned by someone else.... NB, that 100hrs = £7, 200hrs = £8, and 300hrs = £11. After you use the maximum monthly useage, ie, 100, 200 or 300 hrs, depending on your choice, you will automatically goto Pay as You Go. Whereas, unlimited access would be around £14... surely these would be good prices... and if I could do broadband for around £25 inc. Vat, I would be very happy, thus saving £4 compared to freeola, and maybe even more through setup costs - aka "the activation system"

.......any ideas now....??????

Broadband would be my choice over that.

If you are aware of what hours you would use it, then that would be a good offer, if the price was right. But, for me, I don't have any specific hours I go online, so it wouldn't suite me.

Anyway, Freeserve Anytime is £13 which was good enough for me, before I got broadband. Shame Pipex suck so much for me.
