"A Clockwork Orange - 10:00pm, Channel 4"

Just in case your interested, and hadn’t looked at a TV schedule for a while, Channel4 are showing Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film interpretation of Anthony Burgess novella tonight at 10 (the title pretty much give it all away huh?)...

It's one of those movies I never get the chance to watch... whenever an opportunity does arise, some ludicrous series of random events occur to stop me from getting to view it... So I'll be interested to see if I can get to watch it tonight... and what it’s finally like I do?

Unfortunatly, thats not a new thing... its the same world everyone has been brought up in... its was then, and will be for a long time to come.

Hmm. I can see why it was shocking back when it was released but really it just didn't make a huge impact on me. I mean I've been born and brought up in a world where if I want to hear a story of rape/murder/GBH etc, then all I have to do is read a newspaper. I can certainly see why there was such an uproar back then, but nowadays it doesn't seem that shocking.

You were warned at the start

Well after watching roughly 30 minutes of that film i had to turn it off. I was disgusted at it (Im 15 - not gay before you ask) i found the sexual violence in the film disgusting.

Its a very strange film aswell....

I imagine that the film would have ben quite shocking and very topical when it was released (and subsequently withdrawn). The concept of penal reform, through effective rehabilitation, is still a theme inherent in our society's conciousness and the idea of being able to induce a "Pavlov's Dog" reaction to the stimulus of violence is still a very intruiging one.

It is akin to the idea of chemical castration for Paedophiles/Rapists/Sex Offenders, which is always a contencious issue.

Kubrick's eye for an effectively framed shot is legendary and I always love his style of film making. Not as good ad Full Metal Jacket or 2001 though...

Well I saw it, and liked it, though I don't think it's aged well with time. It's one of those films which you think should have been unbanned a long time ago, but I still liked it.

I quite liked it... I didnt know anything about the story before I watched, and was expecting it to be quite a big let down, but I thought it was kinda fun, sharp and funny...

Though I reckon its one of those movies where I would have gotten a lot more out of it if I had read the book before hand?

Through the whole film I was just going to myself "Who the **** talks like that? That is ******* baby talk" in my Jay voice.

I saw it a few months ago, and thought it was a damn good film. Weird, but good.

One thing I learned from this film: Kubrick was mental.

It's okay, but not brilliant like everyone says it is.
