I think that Belldandy has already noted what I am about to say, but in the the light of certain threads (not least http://ukchatforums.reserve.co.uk/display_messages.php? (space)threadid=55913&forumid=416 )that have appeared over the past 2 days I think it need reiterating

This was written by a staff member only a few weeks ago, and as I remember there were no objections raised to it at the time. So why aren't the staff doing what they said they would? There are several posters who have used exactly the type of language that was mentioned above. If it doesn't get through the swear filter then it shouldn't be used.

Come on Staff are you scared to do anything about it. If you keep making statements like the above and not carrying out your threats then what sort of respect are we expected to have for you?

If I use any type of swearing, it's certainly not to replace words which I don't know. I use it ONLY because it will usually go in with the context of the reply I am typing.

Yeah, I tried this earlier in the week and it's pointless really, still nice try and all that. I think SR's rules are like;

*Swearing is not allowed as this is a family site, unless you are a)notable b)certain regulars c)we can't be bothered d)matey with the staff. In addition, all JAT's and Newbies found swearing will be banned immediately unless they are covered by the above conditions.

Who cares ? As long as GAD continues....it's a waste of time trying to change things because no one can really be bothered, and a lot of users still prefer just to swear rather than learn some new words, why bother when you can call everything cr$p ? *Sigh*

We don't "try" and beat it, it's effortless overcoming the filter :D

So, we're all agreed, Rosalind condones swearing...

I'm trying to be exactly correct about the rules, and Mr. Snuggly said the swear filter is not there for us to try and beat. I think that this is EXACTLY what he was talking about

(did you see what I did there, clever huh?)

If we're going to be EXACTLY correct about this whole thing, then @sre or ar$e aren't swear words.

We don't say the REAL versions (which they tell us not to do), so it's all good ;)

Easy there question mark lady. Well it may be hypocritical, but you just have to play it by ear, the rules are somewhat flexible regardless of what is said.

Yeah i guess that was the point you were making.

No, you werent wrong. The rule was made, but it was quickly broken. I think even snuggly broke the rule. In a post he had a profanity "starred out", he said that was against the rules.

The rules are there to play by, or suffer the consequences.
It is not up to you ar I to make those ruls only to abide by them or if we can't to try and get them changed in a repectable manner.
Unfortunatly in this case I see no consequences for anyone breaking this specific rule. Therefore why should any other rule on the forum be any different.

I'm tired now and sorry I started this

shall I just say I was wrong and go away?
