But it is not better than DVD. Quality same, but holds less data than DVD. How does Serial ports compare with USB or FireWire?

Why didnt Nintendo just use the already invented DVD format?. Their smaller disc is a custom design needing additional R&D - which costs money which has to be paid back. And why O why did they stick a couple of custom Serial Bus ports on the GC? Why not use USB or FireWire?

The Gamecube is also cheapest to manufacture. Nintendo more than likely said it would be released at £160 or whatever so they would be able to drop the price and still make a profit. Ie you mark something up, then you drop the price so everyone buys it because it is cheaper. I mean A CD would cost mabey 20p to manufacture. Yet we pay £15 for a CD album and £40 or so for a game on dvd.
