The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
What happened to the thing of no one using it, and everyone being treated the same for using it ? Seems to have gone wayward. Fair enough, there will always be people new to the forums who use it, but it's still regulars using it most of the time.
It's not like people need swear words to make good topics is it ? Yes, probably plenty of us here have heard it all before and worse, but is it that essential to use on here ?
Whether we can or cannot swear on here, the way it is treated should be consistent, not just banning newbies...

(Ooooh, that sounded like a kiddies un-Vocabulariated sentence. ..wait a minute, un-vocabulariated isn't even a word.)
Sure, you can express disbelief or anger with much language of a descriptive nature.
But sometimes a hearty anglo-saxon cursive just fits. It works, and can be funny.
Sure, family forum and yadda yadda yadda - so it should be moderated.
But there are times when I've read a post, and a nice simple insult or two-word instructional post would be all that is needed.
And, apart from anything else, swearing is big and clever. If you can swear *and* smoke, then you have all the world at your feet.

So you're saying that, as long as a person shows he can type very good in the descriptive sense, without having to resort to swearing, that he is allowed free reins to swear when he sees fit?
"It was f'ing great." - why swear here? No need. Why not say "It was stupendous" "magnificent" "Once in a lifetime experience" "utterly superb"
I could sit here all day and write exampes of limited vocabulary, but I won't bother. Leanr a few more words, and all of a sudden, you don't need to swear.
Crap, for example. Thats used in simpsons many many many times.
I agree to a certain extent that swearing on the forums is wrong, but that is only in extreme conditions (I.E. If someone means it, or intends it to offend someone). But in the other case (I.E. Meaning it as a joke, or a way to describe something in that context), then you are taking it too far.
How many times I've told people to lighten up over this subject is ridiculous...
