Cheers mate.
I'll probably let people on here know how it is going on either to warn them against doing it (if it doesn't work) or to brag about how rich I become (if it does work out!)

Lol, the service has only been running a few weeks and isn't officially launched yet though. I'd better get kieran to sort those though, doesn't look good!

I've been looking around for some hosts, most seem ok, its just picking one.

Thanks.
I've just took the plunge and ordered 2GB of web space.
I won't advertise where it is on here as Special Reserve may be a little unhappy!!
Here's to my new business!

Dunno! You just seemed to know your stuff :-)

Had a look at them. Pretty funny seeing their "FIXME" comments on certain parts of the site.
I've been looking around and found a pretty good deal where I get 2GB of space to host up to 50 domains on. I've calculated that if I just sell 15 I will make a profit and if I can get 50 people to sign up then I will make a nice profit.
It's something I would like to do so I can combine hosting with web design and also custom software solutions for small businesses. Could be a tidy earner and means I don't have to rent office space and everything can be done from home!
But yes, I've been planning for a long time to host my own websites as soon as I get a permanent DSL connection, but until that happens I host everything on a friend's box which he has been stupid enought to give me root on. Either way I'd not consider hosting anything without a shell account and almost full control.
If you need hosting though, I can recommend www.digital-crocus.com, very cheap for what they provide.
But yes, self-hosting is certainly the way forward if you can handle it all.
Have you ever looked into hosting your own websites with a reseller account?
I ask because I am thinking of doing it.
