.....if you use the game disk to give a Cow and Enema.

This game rules so much, been playing it for the last 3hrs and I'm in gaming heaven.

Mario kicks mucho backside. There's so much to do and mess around with, I just ripped the legs of a big Octopus thing which was quite amusing. The music rule as well, the remixed versions of old themes are fookin superb, wait till ya hear them.

Anyway I have Shines to get.

If another game comes out this year that's better than Mario then i'll eat my hat.

Best.Game.Ever.....well one of them anyway.

I'm not sure what you mean about the linear thing...?

You said if you don't get a cutscene when you return to the plaza place you know you just need to go do the next objective in the level, but (except when you've only got one level unlocked) you can always go back to plast levels and complete objectives in them too. And if you mean doing objectives in order, well, you had to in Mario 64 too (well, most of the time anyway). By having a set order of objectives it allows Mario Sunshine to change the environments of each level slightly depending on what objective you are doing, whereas Mazza 64 had pretty much no change in the level for different objectives, except maybe the appearance of a boss, or of that Koopa the Quick person...

I don't think Sunshine really feels linear at the moment. I'm spending time going into whichever level I want to out of those I've opened, and although I have a set objective to complete, I can also just wander around and have fun.

But I think Sunshine is very hard to compare to Mazza 64... while they obviously have a lot in common, they seem very different and almost incomparable to me for some reason... maybe it's just me being wierd...

What I would like is if you had to do all the levels of the first area and then two more areas opened up or something. That would mean if you got fed up of a level you could just go to the other area for a bit, but you can't.

By the way....your Mum is good, but not woman of the year...hehe j/k

I apologise for my comments on Friday, I was in a very biased mood, I was bowled over by how good Sunshine was IMO.

I'm loving the game anyway. On the linearality side of things, you can hardly expect the game to have all the levels open to you from the word go. There's got to be some kind of progression thing going on. Like GTA3 you had to complete a certain amount of missions to get another part of the city open up then you're free to wherever you please, Sunshine does the same.

Oh and Cyclone I agree, most games i'd be reaching for the power button if I kept repeatedly faling or dieing. Sunshine doesn't have me doing this, it's got a 'just one more go' thing going on.

Blank you gotta realise that us Ninty's are a loyal bunch, insulting Sunshine is like insulting my Mum. :D

Please note that's a joke.

Ignore that part of my last post then, I was writing it while you posted that, so I didn't see it. Soz :)

Sunshine doesn't bring much at all, whereas SM64 did. I think the Edge review described it well. It isn't perfection at all - if you admit that there is even the tiniest thing wrong with it then it isn't perfect. And you did. So it isn't perfect.

It does happen quite frequently, admit it.

The most non-linear games you've ever played? You can't choose which level to do next at all! It's just one level after another - if you get to Delfino Plaza and there isn't a cut scene showing an event then you know you have to go into the same place as you just went into. There's no "Well, I'll do the first level of this location, then go and do the second level of this location..." it's just "Do this location. there are two levels. Now do this location. There are four levels". Not really a major gripe, but it would've been nice to have a choice in the matter. It surely isn't pushing the boundaries in this respect. Previous Marios had more linearity. If you kicked fruit around all day that would be incredibly boring.

You obviously don't respect that, otherwise you wouldn't be arguing. You called me a narrow minded fool earlier because I don't think this game is perfect, which is a bit of pot calling the kettle black. If anyone here is narrow minded then it is you for not being able to see other's opinions and being blinded by hype/loyalty/whatever reason you find to like this game so much.

Don't worry, I wasn't going to buy it, I was just wondering what everyone thought.

Also to Cyclone - you said it makes you want to play it more when it frustrates you. It doesn't for me. I get to the end of my amount of lives and then switch it off and play Onimusha 2, which does make me want to play it more when it frustrates me. I want to find out what happens in the storyline, but I'm not really bothered about finding out what happens next in Mario.

Before everyone starts slating me again, please remember that I'm not saying the game is poo, just not the best thing I've ever played. It's worth buying, probably.

Ahh I understand what you mean about the pre set order now. I agree sort of, but there's tons of other stuff to do if you can't be bothered looking for shines.

It's never really annoyed me, though I can see what you're saying.

Of course it does, Mario 64 was a massive, massive step forward in gaming you can't expect Sunshine to have the same impact. Sunshine takes all the elements that made Mario 64 so good and makes them 10 times better and adds its own elements like Flood and the way the enviroments are so interactive. Sunshine is platform perfection.

Admiteddly there are moments when the camera is annoying but this doesn't happen often enough to really get in the way of the gameplay.

I was expecting that it would be fun to control and stuff

Ummmmmmm am I missing something?

This is one of the most non-linear games i've ever played, it's up to you which order you do everything in, the worlds are there for you to explore, hell you could ignore the objectives and just kick fruit around all day if you wanted too. We're not in an age where any games are completly non-linear and I doubt we ever will be, but games like Mario are pushing the boundaries. If you think this is linear then I question if you're playing the same game as me.

Even just an option at the end of the level asking to go on
> to the next one or back to Delfino Plaza would be nice.

Very small niggle, stop being so pedantic.

> It isn't the game of the year but it's okay.

IN your opinion and I repsect that, but in the opinion of the majority of people in the Nintendo forum and a hell of a lot of magazines it is.

By the way, to all the
> people who DO think Sunshine is the game of the year, what do you
> think of Luigi's Mansion?

Luigi's Mansion is a small pubic hair on the tooth of Mario Sunshine, if you aren't particuarly amazed by Sunshine then I warn you off Luigi's Mansion. It's fun but nothing to wet yourself over.
