A programme following one of the contestants from Big Brother after the show.
Why? Surely the whole point of that programme was to watch people locked in a house together with pointless tasks to stimulate boring interaction and to create tension for the voyeuristic entertainment of drones watching?
So why a programme about afterwards?
And why on earth a programme about this woman? A woman famous and admired for being borderline retarded?
She seemed like a nice enough person, but that doesn't excuse the fact she's quite possibly one of the stupidest people I have ever had the misfortune of sharing my planet with.
"Saddam Hussein?...who's 'e? Inni a boxer or summit?"
This, ladies and gentlemen, is an example of "celebrity". This is what we're supposed to venerate and admire? To place our unrealised dreams and vicariously live through?
A walking, talking mannequin? Since when did watching a clueless nobody merit an hour long show?
It just reinforces my loathing (and it is a genuine hatred) of Big Brother.
An utterly pointless programme with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
"It's just fun to watch" - No. It's staring at wannabes all trying to win £70,000 by doing absolutely nothing of note or merit.
"It's fun to watch other people's lives" Really? How about actually interracting with your neighbours then? Try talking to people that are actually around you? Maybe phone an old friend and catch up?
But this entire "Real-life" tv thing is an absolute farce. Is your life really that boring, that devoid of personal excitement that you have to watch someone else living and empathise? You do realise the irony of staying indoors to watch a programme about somebody else living their life don't you?
Please tell me you get that - don't kid yourself it's entertainment. It's not, it's keeping you pacified and thinking that things like Big Brother and Jade actually count for anything at all in this world.
With these programmes, I'd like to see a National system where, periodically, it would flash to someone's living room/ You'd see people slouched on the sofa, slack-mouthed watching with zero movement or conscious thought in their head. A zombie, sitting there as yet another evening of your life is flushed away whilst you watch total pond-life perform for you like circus seals for "entertainment".
Pop Idol/Star/Rivals/Fame Academy...watch another group of desperate nobodies grasp their 15 mins and cling to the notion they're "Better people" because everyone knows their face before sinking back into their lives of unfulfilled dreams and nothing to face but the fact "I was on tv once y'know".
What's wrong with not having the television on? Why not get mates round or your family and talk/play boardgames/video games...anything that requires some form of active participation or thought from you instead of just monging on the sofa watching yet another instant-celeb parade around and bark on command.
Jesus Christ, it's not bad enough that these bipeds get on tv, but some of them go on to make records in the case of Pop Zombies and then we have to suffer beyond the 15 mins.
I dont understand this fascination with celebrity in this day and age. There are magazines devoted to "celebrity gossip" where so-and-so got drunk and had a fight. Big deal, you want that then go out on any Friday or Saturday night and you'll see it.
Doesn't matter if a person is a movie star/music star, they're just like you and me. So why this worship? Especially 2nd rate zeroes like the Big Brother people. When will people realise they fade within a month of that show finishing?
Christ...I'm disgusted with 95% of television and if I had my own planet, there would never have been such an invention. It's gone from what was originally hoped to be an instrument of learning and bringing people together to share ideals to nothing more than a parade of commercials and a platform for the brain damaged to seek validation through being recognised.
Stupid bloody invention.
