looking through the Spakrle NVidia cards, it seems the GEForce 3 Titanium (£100) is better than the Geforce 4 MX440/MX420 - based on fill rate etc.
DO you think this is true ??
Ayy other suggestions as to best card to get ? - I have XP1600 processor chip and 512mb memory,

I nearly made the horrific error of buying an MX not long ago, but then I read a few reviews, and heard terrible tales of shockingly poor directX support. Reading further I discovered that the MX is an absolute waste of money.

But I still got conned, as I ended up with a 128MB SiS 315, which is good for compatability with everything, but not exactly a great performer.

If you get an MX, it's probably best you not let us know.

Have you thought about getting an ATI card
The Radeon 9000 Pro is a cheap, full DirectX 8.1 card for around £80 (jungle.com)

It marks better than the Geforce 3 Ti200 in 3D Mark 2001 SE so it would be a good deal.

Of course it's true! The GF4 MX440s and MX420s are just GeForce 2s with GeForce 4 written on the side. It's because nVidia thought no-one would possibly want a GF2 when the GF4 was out, so they called them GeForce 4s instead.

Really though, don't even consider them.
