On your recommendation I bought "Songs for The Deaf" last night on the way home and it's fantastic.
Only the first 4 songs have instantly grabbed me, but the rest are the sort I'll get into with more listens tonight and the next few days.

Also got The Streets album, that's bloody good as well.

Queens of The Stone Age - almost as good as Clutch in my world.

I was gonna get the new Stone Age album, but I never got round to it. probably get it soon.

By the way, how come you all like The Streets? Seriously, it's rubbish! My theory is he goes on a night out and takes a pen and pad with him. Then he writes down everything he says over the course of the night and says (not sings, says) it back over a beat. That isn't much good. I mean come on, the lyrics are like "Maccy D's, KFC's, scratch my fleas, ask for more cheese, please". I can't stand the fool.

Any minute now, Kiss are going to burst in and start singing "God Gave Rock and Roll to You".

Honestly, go and download "Who Wants To Rock?" by Clutch.
Best song to start your day to.

"Hey hey now what's that smell?
Just like cornbread done too well
What you need you know I got
So hands up
Who wants to rock?"

They start their shows with that song, and upon the "Hand up" line, the entire place salutes with rock-lock.

It is a glorious site to behold.

I had it on in the car this morning and nearly crashed because I was tapping my foot up and down on the accelerator.

Homme also revisits the Kyuss days with his desert sessions albums. Basically he invites a load of musicians into the desert for a drug-fueled weekend and they record and release the eventual result, which is usually pretty damn good.

As for QOSTA, I think I like the new album better than the last, even though that was very good, because the drumming on this one is noticably better. On No One Knows especially. It's just genius.

Both Josh Homme (Vox Guitar) and Nick Oliveri (Bass Vox) are originally from a band called Kyuss. Oliveri left after their second album and Josh was in it til the end. Kyuss basically invented 'stoner rock' back in the early 90's when they used to go out in the desert, take peyote and have massive generator parties. They are THE seminal stoner rock band, bar none.

Blues for the Red Sun*
Sky Valley*
And the Circus Leaves Town

Are the other guys from QOTSA from another band? Apart from Grohl, of course...

Must download!
Best Black Twang song is 'Two Sides'.
