An Oscar vehicle is a term for a movie someone picks that almost guarantees them an Oscar ie. Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind, Hoffman in Rain Man and Hanks in just about everything he's ever done.
It's like the whole movie is made so that the leading man will look really courageous and great, and will win him an Oscar, so it's his Oscar vehicle.
