I have an idea about the future of gaming as we know it. At the moment we buy games from shops and they cost quite a lot (this is part of the reason we come onto this site to win a game) and so I can't buy games all the time.

Over the last few years a few things have happened to make me come to this solution and hopefully things will happen in the future too:

Internet access is becoming cheeper and cheeper and soon it could well be free.

Many people are seeing the advantages of online gaming and so that is becoming more poular with more people using it every day and more games being compatable online.

The only thing which is still needed is very high speed access to the internet at a low cost. The best we have just now is a T1 but that costs a lot of money, money which most gamers dont have.

My idea is to have games available to download online. With internet connections that could download very fast this is not entirely impossible. You could log on to the companies web-site and download a game to your PC. This would save lots of money making games cheeper.

eg. No need to mass produce the game CD or print the manual (could be downloaded for Adobe) or to transport the game to shops. The only cost would be the upkeep of the servers and the development of the game. Games could be sold for £5-£10 and I would see this as resonable as games in the shops cost £30-£40.

This would not just be limited to PC games but could be expanded for consoles. As an ever growing number of consoles have access to the internet and the PS2 will have a hard disk then games could in theory be downloaded to them aswell.

This would be a great revolution and so it looks like it could be an interesting future if this were to happen in maybee 10 years.
