If you connect through the S-Video socket then all the problems are solved.

Yep. I have changed the screen position of the GC, and its still got the board down the right of the screen. Can't change it any more as it starts to mess about with the left side of the screen.

What happends at some schools?...

Really? My GC is connected through the composite sockets on the front of my TV, so it's not something I've noticed - but as I understood it, Nintendo consoles didn't suffer this - it was a "PS2 disease".
Fortunately, the majority of PS" games do compensate for RGB shift by providing a screen positioning option in the menus. Sounds like GC needs the same.

I've had games with borders, but I only experienced boarders on SSX! ;-p
You'll also save a little bit of money in buying the PS2 version, £2 off the GC and £4 from the x-box. Not much I know, but you it does mean that if you wait for the other two versions of the game, you'll not only be paying (slightly) more, you'll also have to wait longer. I don't think it's worth it really, especially since there's little or no difference in either version of the game.

Well come and see my GC running all the games(that support it) at 60Hz with boarders. Resident Evil has a big RGB shift aswell so that the picture edges over to the left of the screen. On Resident Evil at 60Hz I get boarders on the top and bottom. Maybe because I play on a 28in TV the boarders are there while maybe there not with a 14in TV. Games in 60 Hz i've played on all other consoles are fullscreen, but not in my experience with the GC.
Why would I, one of Nintendo's biggest followers be suggesting this?
Well you asked in the Sony forum so you obviously have more of an interest in Sony consoles, or are just getting to grips with the forum system, but I rather the first.
So get the Playstation 2 version. There wont be that much of a difference between the different versions, so why worry about which is best?

Not strictly true - there are a number of PS2 games with no 60Hz mode which have no borders.
But in general terms, that is correct.

The PS2 and GameCube both have 5.1 enabled, it's just that less games utilise the feature than on the X-Box.

In simple terms, 60Hz IS the elimination of borders.
