"FINALLY Some Worldwide Hardware Sales!"

"Each month seems to get better and better for the industry and this month appears to be no different. According to CNET, Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) released figures covering sales for the industry during June. Overall, the month saw an increase in sales by 53 percent coming on the heels of the May price cuts. Hardware sales were brisk during the month as well with PlayStation 2 pushing 694,000 units during the month (increase from 524,000 in May). Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance also saw increases with increase from 229,000 in May to sales of 265,000 in June for Xbox; an increase from 111,000 in May to 213,000 units in June for GameCube; and an increase from 310,000 units in May to 553,000 units in June for Game Boy Advance.
The notes continued by commenting that videogame sales increased by 52 percent with Electronic Arts’ Medal of Honor: Frontline taking the top spot in June with 651,000 units sold for PlayStation 2. Electronics Arts good fortune didn’t end at Medal of Honor as the report added that EA’s overall sales increased by 40 percent over this time last year, with sales of non-PC related software up by 62 percent. Medal of Honor was closely followed by Grand Theft Auto 3 from Take-Two Interactive.

Activision, Take-Two and Midway also did well during June as the report revealed that sales from Activision were up 92 percent, Midway was up 15 percent, and Take-Two Interactive had an increase of 261 percent. As expected, Activision’s tops seller for the month was once again Spiderman: The Movie with 1.3 million units sold across the five platforms its on. Well quite right Whitestripes... the PS2 has about 2 years advantage over the GC in that area... i wasnt suggesting that the GC would be the most owned console by christmas but merely that it may be the most currenly sold console at that time. Personally as long as many great games keep getting released onto the GC and it dont die young like the dreamcast did (a very sad day) then it matters not which console is selling the most units monthly. I think that its great news for gamers that sales are up. We can all only be winners no matter which of the 3 consoles we own.

It maybe threatening the PS2 in Europe soon, but only in weekly sales, obviously it isn't going to be selling about 30 million before christmas..

Whitestripes is perfectly right... The Gamecube had only very recently been released at the time of those figures so they really dont tell us anything that we all know and will be evident when then the August, September etc figures are released... Gamecube is vastly out selling the X-box right now and will be threating the PS2 before too long (not an opinion...but a fact) :D

When those figures were released the X-box had been out for 3 months, and the GC about 3 weeks

By August, the European Gamecube figures reached 1 MILLION UNITS....Official too!
Considering the system was out AFTER the X-Box, that is pretty impressive.

I thought it was common knowledge that the GameCube was vastly outselling the X-Box? It was doing this by August at the very most.

It will outsell them all in 7 days time (Gamecube I mean)

The figures make no difference, the Gamecube had only been out for a month.

I can gurantee you that the Gamecube is outselling the Xbox by quite a high number nowadays.

Gamecubes going to rule supreme of sales this christmas methinks.
