This game looks fantastic with detailed graphics, slick animation, plenty of originality and is just generally brilliant. It was mostly in-game footage too!
Some of the enemies need a little work, but the project is still over 6 months away from completion. Rare have more than enough time to perfect it.
For those of you who haven't followed the game since it was announced for the Gamecube, you play as Kameo, some sort of fairy princess who has the power to capture creatures Pokemon style, and morph into them.
I think she can carry 3 monsters at a time and as well as morph into them, she can call them out to help her.
This is Rare's first Xbox game (the one arriving in Spring).
The trailer did look sort of cheesy when the "bad guys" did that war dance.
Isn't it the same dance that the New Zealand Rugby team do?
Its certainly come along since then and its looking very good. No doubt I'll pick it up when it comes out next year. It'll do nicely until the Conker game I want comes out. ;-)
Sounds different to say the least. Havn't viewed any screenshots yet but I'll keep an eye on it.
Just been looking at gamespots starfox review, it got 8.3 and Mario Sunshine got 8.0?!? Buffy got 8.4 I think and im certain Buffy can't be a better game than Mario Sunshine.
The review sounded good anyway-sounds like a quality adventure. Who said rare arn't as good as they used to be?
:-)
Remember how the original showed promise, but was dull, sparse and characterless (because of early devellopment stages. It still looked better than Starfox, and look how good Starfox is now!!).
You'll recognise odd similarities between the new footage and old, like some similar characters, and Kameo's not changed much, and the promising gameplay has the same fundamentals but the whole games looks a billion times better.
The game now oozes with character with smoother, more detailed visuals and some lovely animations too. The characters are brought to life, rather than just being polygon figures. The game also has a plot now.
I only managed to download the footage because my school has broadband, but some of the screenshots should give you a fair idea of what it now looks like...
Nice to see I'm not the only Ninty who hasn't suddenly dismissed Rare! :-)
I like the sound of this game.
