Nintendo being more approachable and eager to please the western market. If so, why sell Rare? I know they get a huge amount of cash to plow back into companies, like Dringo keeps on saying, and the Japanese don't care about the Xbox or Rare. But we do.

PD2 and Kameo on the XBox is A) Annoying B)Disappointing, but more importantly C)Still not worth me buying one. ;) I don't really mind, as I wasn't that interested in it, and as far as I'm concerned, if Nintendo has all these other 2nd parties making superb games, thats fine. But the 'average Joe' everybody goes on about does not. Rare, and more importantly, Perfect Dark, are one of the few things that the un-enlightened (!) people played an N64 for. Now, with all the talk of Nintendo trying to be more pleasing to the West, they go and sell the company that was actualy perhaps the main attraction for those un-decided to approach the Gamecube. Sure, we all know Silicon Knights, Retro Studios, Camelot and all them can produce blinding games, but 'they' don't and Nintendo need to promote this far more if they are to 'replace' Rare in the minds of the consukmer as being 'cool'.

Like I said, Nintendo can do this with the huge wads of cash they've recieved, but will they? How long? It'll take years to repair that bridge, and this seems very contradictory to their recent proposals of treating Europe especialy better - Not 'us - we know about all the fantastic titles soon available, but the average consumer dosen't and Rare and its games were one of the few things they did know about, and actualy liked about the N64.

Of course, Rares output was pathetic in terms of releases, but they caused a stir simply because they were great games. I'm not saying that other companies aren't as good (Nintendo and Sega are both better, and several of the aforemntiond companies have equal amounts of talent - all for the GC) but they, perhgaos with the exception of Nintendo and Sega, do not thave the 'common image' that is in the 'average consumers' mind. Of course, Nintendo is 'kiddy' and Sega is not an exclusive prize, so Nintendo need to flaunt some very good, very western games soon, and make these companies like Silicon Knights and Retro Studios well know outside of these gaming circles, as all thsi seems to contradict the policy Nintendo was coming up with about the West, and especialy Europe.

Otherwise, the XBox will gain much needed ground on the GC, and we might not have an effective reply, to say to all those people 'outside the circles' that the GC has 'such and such a game', like we could with PD.

Cheers.

Long live the big G!

Problem is though, the Rare we know for Goldneye and Perfect Dark all left to either Free Radical Design or Retro Studios.

Perfect Dark's multi-player was terrible. I played it about five times and then insisted we went back to Goldeneye.

I said nothing about the Gamecube version being better. All i said was te N64 had a trigger button. Plus Joe Dark looking like a Cartoon Hero from some dodgy Computer animated Channel 5 Porn film really lowers her tone don't you think

I think that if you take away the name james bond and the music in goldeneye and you put that into perfect dark then you everyone would be saying perfect dark is the better.

It out plays it in every area, but being bond makes the game that bit more realistic.

Id play perfect darks 1 player and multi player any day instead of goldeneye as it has god little extras that make a game, bots in multi player and the whole guards that can give up, guns not work, pick up guns etc makes it that more playable.

Yeah, Perfect Dark is rubbish because the X-box controller doesn't have a trigger button? Heh.

The Gamecube controller doesn't have a trigger button either, so would it be bad on that too?

Ok Rare are gone and I am guted because I thought Perfect Dark would at least be multi format. But I think the X-BOX is:

A)BAD CONTROLLS-=-=-=-=The X-BOX controller is hideous. but Perfect Dark will fail without a trigger button. Like the N64 Z button

B)BAD GRAPHICS-=-=-=-=It doesn't have the power to perform in the Graphics environment. I mean if you look at the screenshots you will see how Bad it is gonna look. Joe's new look is absolutely poo!

C)Rushed Game-=-=-=-=Due to the Microsoft Rush factor we will see bad points in the game which may result in a rushed ending.

It's all about reputation. Silicon Knights, Retro Studos, Camelot, etc can easily produce titles equal and possibly better than Rare, but through Goldeneye, Rare became famous. That's what the consumer sees - a name, not a game.
