Bit dead in here anyway, hmmm?
Anywho ... on with the show.
Battalion Wars really did pull its finger out, scooping a rather impressive 90& from what was looking rather rubbish a while ago. Good stuff.
No other GC reviews of much interest - PAL Pokémon gets 86%, though I still won't be buying it: it's really not the game we were promised now, is it? And only 83 'mon to catch? That's just rubbish.
Mario Football - 69%. Meh. Could have been very nice with a little more work.
" Baseball - 80%. Bit better. I still don't really care, though.
" Dancing Thingy - 77%. Yawn
Ultimate Spider-Man a depressing 70% after the rather enjoyable Spidey 2 - they even changed the swinging to something rubbish. Er ... why? Nasty pop-up and graphics beyond the nice close-up cell-shading stuff as well.
Then:
Sims 2 - 68%
Lego Star Wars - 80%
Two random X-Men games, one with 30%, t'other with 80%
Handheld shizzle:
Two nice ones this month, Gunstar (GBA) gets a 5, an impressive side-scrolling shooter from (oh shock) Treasure. Also, surprisingly, Kirby: Power Paintbrush (aka Touch! Kirby, aka Kirby: Canvas Curse) gets a 5 as well, being what Yoshi should have been to start with. Yummy.
Mario Tennis gets a 4 as well, as does Lost in Blue (although from the review it seems like LiB should have scored lower) ...
And (if you don't know already) when Mario Kart DS (whoop) gets released on the 25th of Nov, so does Ninty's Wireless service. You can even buy a rather nice Nintendo USB-slotted wireless dongle for Ł30 is you're not wire-free already. Good stuff. Time to get the DS cooking again.
Other crap:
Big stuff being the Rev controller, obviously, as they just missed out on the revealing with the last issue. Just as you'd expect - run-through of everything it does. Also pointing out that all mention of the "Revolution" has dropped from Ninty's mouths, so perhaps a new console name is in the works? If it matters.
Baten Kaitos gets a sequel.
New True Crime could actually be good.
Little article on all of Shigsy's little hints dropped slyly before his then-seeming-jokes / throwaway-comments actually came true.
Poster of Mario's 20th birthday.
There you go!
xxx
We'll see how DS Pokémon comes along ... maybe that'll be some kind of stop-gap until we can lob pokéballs around with the Rev controller.
And with the "revolution" i doubt we'll ever see that MMORPG.
I'd like, please:
- A proper, new pokémon RPG - not a slightly expanded version of another game released a bit earlier.
- Which has lots of monsters to catch in it - like, all of them, you cheapo Ninty faggorz.
- Which you can actually catch when you like - in grass and stuff, but not in random battles.
- Big game world, lots of side-quests, lots of gym battles, lots of secrets.

... nine monsters.

There is, according to the issue, a Safari zone kinda game involved where you actually catch!
