For a change, let's leave the graphics and power subjects, and concentrate on the outer design of these new generation consoles. The Dreamcast, PlayStation2, and the Gamecube we know about, but i for one have not seen what the Xbox looks like. (If anyone knows, please let me know.) In my opinion, the DC looks quite ordinary, though i don't think that is a bad thing at all. The only problem that i have with this is that like everything else in this day and age, cars, houses etc. it basically looks like every other console, past and present.

The PS2, which as you all know is my favourite, is totally different to anything else in this market. Many think it is wonderful, others think, well, differently. It has been likened to many things, my favourite being, a 90's ioniser.

And the GC, a fun design, but you must admit, not really aimed at the older gamsters. Of course many people have picked up on the fact that it does look a little fisher price, but i think that Nintendo have really got it right with this. The best way to compete with the others is to look like you're NOT competing with them. Whereas Sony went for the "fit in with the rest of the home entertainment" look, Nintendo went completely in the other direction. A good strategy, as long as it works.

And so we come to the Xbox, the mega-machine from our mate Bill. It's stats are simply awsome, but what does it look like? As i said above, i have not seen any pictures or designs for the system, but in my head i have some sort of mental idea of what i think it will look like. For some reason i have a picture of some sort of PC tower system lookalike, something that will only look in place on a desk, or in an office. I don't know why i think this, and i am probably totally wide of the mark, but we shall see.

So, there you have it. My opinions on the aesthetics of the next gen. machines. And as i have stated before, these are only opinions, and not intended to mock any console in any way.
