Hi, I really want to play the electric guitar. I know this might sound dumb and stupidly retarded, But where do i start?

Any things you can recommend, I don't wish to be part of a band or anything, just the fact that guitars can be used to throw out your anger through music or let your brain be imaginative and creative through music.

I am a big fan of all types of Rock and Metal.

Well, the way you're talking about playing it seems you just wanna play stuff, and play it loud. To have fun, play whatever songs you like (System of a Down? Manics? I don't know...) anyways, then I would suggest buying a guitar that ain't too expensive, my pick being a Squier Stratocaster/Telecaster (about £120), and a medium amp for around £80. Then you can pretty much teach yourself to play using the net, with the vast array of tutorials and tabs.

However, if you wanna get serious about making stuff up and getting really good, I suggest taking lessons. I take them, and I'm extremely capable when it comes to improv, and picking up tabs quickly...at least I like to think so ;-) but the guitar/amp setup I suggested before should be good in both instances, although you may want to get a better, more expensive one further down the line if you take the serious route.
