I think the trick is to start holding down the spear when he makes his 6th step, then let go when he hits the line ?(8 and a bit steps). Then it's all down to your reaction times...

Don't forget you need to click the mouse once to make the little guy run
AND
you need to then click and hold again to make him alter the trajectory of his little spear
when you let go he will hurl the spear
if you step over the line it's a foul
experience suggests that you want to click and hold for the second time at roughly the third palm tree and let go at the last possible moment to get into the 530's, then it's all pretty much luck.
