... just been looking for some web hosts, ones you pay for.

I've seen some good deals about, but would just like to see which ones some of you use?? If you don't mind telling me, who you use and if your happy with their service???

Whats I'm after mainly is a host who offer PHP and MySQL amongs other things, at the cheapest prices possible, but not to cheap to comprimise reliabiity and speed when viewing the Web Site (did that make sence to you)

So, if its not to much trouble, to anyone who has a Web Host (other than Freeola) that you pay monthly for or who are Free but don't limit you to their connection, I'd be grateful for a little review or comment on them???

Thanks.

I've just been doing the same. At the moment I use a crowd based in the States called Powweb (www.powweb.com). They are $7.77 a month for 250meg webspace and all the usual extras. But I DEFINITLY DONT recommend them. Having a bad time at the moment, but after the treat of legal advice they are finally sorting things out hopefully.

If I could swap I've heard good reports about Bargain Host (www.barginhost.co.uk), with the added bonus that they are based in the UK.

Chat to the guys in the webhosting forum at http://www.devnetwork.net/forums. They seem pretty helpful.

Basically my advice is to go on recommendations rather than special offers or marketing blurb because you so definately get what you pay for.

Supanames, costs either £32 or £52 I think, .com .net .org and all the other international domains are £7 more :)

The FTP is very fast and always on, never had any problems with it, the actual website has had a few problems, but if it's been offline it's only for a minute at the most.

It supports PHP4 and MySql but only has 1 database to start with, other databases are very cheap £0.50 or something per year.

Get the Pro Host if anything though, much better offer (unlimitted email, your own error page, loads of other crazy things)
Both packages give you 35Mb which I find more than enough (at the moment) but upgrades arn't too bad.
