Games which are in short supply cost us more. Why?
a) they are allocated and we don't get enough
b) we have to buy from suppliers who charge more because they are in short supply
In the past the publishers have ordered too much stock from Nintendo and had their fingers burned. A game flops and they get left with expensive stock.
Nintendo's lead time and expensive cartridges make it impossible to get the balance right. It's best to play safe to the publisher under-orders. Some retailers get more than their share and sell into distribition. The floating stock sells for a higher price because of the demand
