It says Microsoft WheelMouse Optical. It does come with IntelliPoint and yes, the buttons are light, but not too light.

It says on the box "No moving parts" which considering it is a wheel mouse that's a bit of a blunder.

But that's Microsoft for you!

What type of optical mouse?
We have one of the original intellimouse explorers and I hate it, the buttons are too loose to be comfortable, you have to lift your finger up constantly, because the slightest touch triggers them.
