PC demos you can download from places like The Adrenalein Vault etc, let you try a game before you buy it.
Thank christ.
In the past week I've played Hitman 2, Conflict:Desert Storm and Medievil:Total War.

And without question, they suck. Not saying the games are bad, but in my opinion based solely on "Would I play this"? this answer is, without a doubt: No.
So I've saved myself about £60, I would have bought these had I not tried them 1st.

Medievil:Total War - from the makers of Shogun. And it's exactly the same, but with knights instead of Samurai. Shogun was alright, but don't fancy shelling out for the exact same game twice.

Conflict:Desert Storm - p***-poor controls, unresponsive, slow, shoddy graphics and dreadful sound. What an utter shambles this floater is.

Hitman 2 - Just wasn't my cup of tea. Graphics nice, idea is cool but didn't grab me at all.

So hurrah for demos, for they have saved me money!

(all opinions on games as above are solely personal and in no way reflect the true nature of the game and don't listen to me if you were going to buy them. Except Desert Storm, because that licks balls)

Because if you do it to much, the shops catch on, and ban you. Also, it's tantamount to piracy if you just do it with all your games, instead of buying any.

Whats the point in getting demos when you can buy the full complete games from GAME STORES and then take them back in under ten days no fuss as long as you have the receipt. Thats what I do. :::)))

Mediaval Total War is much, much bigger than Shogun. The demo doesn't really do it justice, as it misses out the entire Risk Style part of the main game, which was my favourite part of the original. the battles are in the same style, but the main game is hugely explanded. This is one case where the demo doesn't do the game justice.

Where do you download the demos from?

also i agree with demos being good, I hate the way miyamoto wont do this for GC.

Im lucky and the people at nom have the same taste as me, they are that good, that if they give it 8,9 or 10 i know i will like it. i once shelled out for a game they gave 78%, thinking i woukld like it, only to get home and hate it.

But demos, like on mags, sometimes dont work well. I had that trouble on the ps1. Also if it plays a level you really hate then you wont buy it, but the other 19 levels you might really love.

(* note i am not connected to nom in any way size or form, they are not paying me and im not getting anything of personal gain)

I got Desert Storm. Why didn't you warn me Goaty. It's all your fault.

Although the levels in tighter areas are more fun.

Keep going with the Hitman demo...

I thought it sucked balls initially. But then I thought the demo for Hitman one sucked balls first time round as well. So I decided to stick with it becausethe main reason I disliked both demos at first was because I could do nothing right and kept getting shot.

Once you've got the hang of it, the demo's pretty good.

Try this:
The guard who finds bodies outside the compound is the one who comes out of the delivery entrance right at the start. To knock him off wait behind the van and then walk into his back as he walks past you. Pull out your fibre wire (preferably with "Q", having selected it and holstered it earlier) and strangle him before he turns around. You can then dress as him, or top the delivery boy, or the postman, or the guard who takes a leak against the tree without fear of bodies being discovered. Which makes the game much more enjoyable.

Also, if you sneak into the garage bit of the compound without setting off any alerts, you can pick up a sniper rifle and take out the mafia boss while he's still practising his swing.
