PS2 - budget DVD player with a huge library of games due to the fact it can play 5 year old PS1 games
GameCube - a true to form dedicated games machine with a huge release line up making over 120 games before christmas, an excellently designed controller, and a huge potential.
I personally wouldn't spit on a PS2 if it were on fire, but GC rocks my world.

Because it's got a packed and varied release schedule, it's cheaper than Ps2, it's much better for multiplayer, it's more powerful, the PS2 has preety much had its day and cause it's made by Nintendo.

Gamecube, because it has the best Multiplayer games ever coming out and there are brilliant games coming out via Super Mario Sunshine.
Gamecube is also cheaper!!!
