Commission Junction (www.cj.com) run affiliate programmes for various companies. Basically the deal is that you put banners and/or buttons on your site and if someone clicks on one of these, goes to the site and buys something, you receive some commission.
Commission Junction is very American but does feature some leading UK companies. There are other organisations that do this that are more UK focused. There is a list of these in the Web section of www.tenuouslinks.co.uk
