How I laughed when I read this in today's Times:

"Unlikely as it sounds, the film director Tim Burton is in talks about a Broadway version of his 1989 blockbuster Batman, entitled Batman: The Musical."

How cool is that?

This could be good, but only if they have people on stage during the fight scenes holding up cards that say THWOP and POW on them.

That would rule, i'd pay money to se that.

Oh and I know it would suck, but that's part of the fun, because there really isn't anyway you could do a Batman musical that wouldn't be absolutely terrible.

I think Burton must be punishing Elfman for having all those successes behind his back...

Even a comedy Batman Musical will lick balls. Unless Brian Blessed plays Batman - I'd pay to see him in the cowl with his massive beard sticking out through the mouth-hole.
It would look like someone has stuffed a hair-mattress into a balaclava.

But unless Brian Blessed/Adam West is in it, this will be absolute stinkfinger of theatre.

I'm betting that Danny Elfman's feeling guilty about wh*ring himself out to Sam Raimi for Spiderman MIB II and Red Dragon. So burton's putting him through a bizarre sort of purgatory...
