Metal Gear Substance, expensive add on/extra's style pack?
Yup, I thought so....until I heard the preview video on the new OPS2 magazine. I'm still not 100% sure it's going to be worth the £40ish, but it does definitely sound like it's going to be a vital part to the Metal Gear Storyline.
For those that haven't seen it, snake says several lines hinting that the events from MGS 2 weren't real. Sure, most of us figured that anyway eh ? But... Snake hints that parts of it were real as well, theres also loads of stuff about reality/imagined, magic being technology e.t.c. One bit showed Meryl on the bridge of the tanker as well, with Snake...
Basically there are loads and loads of little plot snippets all over the video preview.
What does anyone else thing about MGS Substance ?

The special missions look dead interesting but I dont like the idea of having to play through the game again. However, from what I gather is that Snake, Otacon, Raiden, Rose and the ones that talk in the demo are the Patriots and the game you played in MGS2 was like preperation for a similar mission coming soon. Possibly... :S
The video preview, I think, suggests that although there are VR missions aplenty, they are also somehow linked to the plot this time, not just training missions. The game isn't out over here until March 2003 so penty of time yet.

I never got MGS2, so if Substance includes it, i'll definitely buy it,

Well, im not totally sure about this one. If its going to add to the plot from MGS2 and actually explain some of the stuff that went on a little more clearly, then ill get it. Buts its going to have to have a little more than a few extras in for me to pay for it. I dont want another game similar to the VR missions game. Theres too many good games coming out over the next few months, so for me to get them there going to have to prove to me that there worth my money.

Well Substance adds on to the plot of Sons Of Liberty, although from what the mags have been saying Substance will come with Sons Of Liberty anyway, so just play Sons Of Liberty first or you'll be really confused.....

yes i thought the plot was full of jargon although i did understand most of it sort of.

Well I've still not got MGS2 so am looking forward to Substance which is supposed to be an improvement. I've seen the video and it looks like fun, I don't know about the story line though, a friend of mine who owned MGS2 said it weird and confusing. Hopefully Substance will have a more clear and understandable plotline to follow.
