According to one reviewer, the Xbox version looks slightly better, but the Gamecube version has the better framerate.
You have your graphics, we'll have our smooth gameplay! So :-P :-P :-P to you! :-P
And then there was the PS2 version, which took the worst of both worlds and made them even worse! :-D
Anyway, enough about one reviewer's (which might turn out VERY controversial in here ;-D) opinion.
The Xbox version is out now, so I'd like to know what you all make of it.
Reviews so far say it's no Halo, but a great game in it's own right.
Mainly good, let down by the odd flaw or so.
Any of you played it yet?

So far, there hasn't been any. At the moment, the levels are quite small.

The original Turok had regular checkpoints through out the level, have they not done that again?
The first two chapters were dull training kind of levels, and I thought "Is this it?"
But Chapter 3 is more like the Turok we know and love. It could turn out to much better than the first impressions indicated.
Maybe I've been too hasty in my verdict.
it's merely mediocre....sigh (well i haven't played it) but that's the impression i get from reviewers

It's not terrible. It's just average (at the moment). It might improve.... stranger things have happened.
Okay, so maybe quicksave can make things too easy and relaxing, but I still like to see regular checkpoint saves - especially on FPS.
Halo did it perfectly.
You know the auto savepoint isn't far away, and yet you are still on the edge of your seat scared of being killed.
Another Multi-Format game that decides not to use the power of the Xbox and GC.....
It seems like a wasted oppurtunity for a great game.
If a game has quick save/load you'll probably NEVER die! Death is a punishment.
When I got to the third chapter, I'll give it credit in that some of the enemies ran to cover and tried to shoot around the shield they were hiding behind. But most of the time so far they just stand on the spot shooting at you.
I think We really have been spoilt with Halo being around as although I don't want to compare the two games, I can't help but do it.
I'm not looking for a Halo clone as such, but I was hoping for more attention to being able to hunt things (including enemies) using the jungle surroundings, etc.
The graphics are ok (although the water isn't a strong point), but I'm still left feeling the X-Box can do much better than this.
Anyway, I'm going to carry on playing through it and see what happens as I pick up more weapons.
Has to be said - if I was that bloke who was supposed to be camping outside the shop for Turok's release for a month or so, I'd be feeling pretty hard done by right now. Definatly no contender to Halo by a long shot, but theres something about the game thats telling me to stick with it and that it'll improve over the levels. Maybe its desperation to play another FPS thats of half decent quality. ;-))
Anyway, mixed feelings about the game so far.
