Just read that Sony Europe have confirmed this game will NOT be playable online, what are Sony doing about online connectivity (apart from nothing), has anyone heard anything about it happening in the UK recently ?

The only online game I have played (apart from Yahoo pool etc) is Quake3 on Dreamcast and that was just for about 15minutes because everyone was whooping my a-s. I wouldnt mind trying Tony Hawk's pro skater online...

Why is it gay ?
I've had many an enjoyable hour playing PC games online, if you don't want to play online you don't have to !

I see Nintendo have confirmed 4 online games for next year, one of which is Mario Kart on the Gamecube, can you imagine it !, looks like I may have to buy a 'Cube after all.

The game never and still doesn't appeal to me, but from what I've heard the online part of the game is what made it stand out from other racers. That and the dull or 'stylish' cel-shaded graphics. Looks like those who want an online racer wil probably have to wait until Gran Turismo 4.

At the Playstation Experience (Yup I'm still going on about that) they had the PS2 hard drive and modem on show, complete with packaging. It was also being shown off somewhere and I believe one of the games was set up online...but I didn't see it myself...

I just read the same in PSW.

"Capcoms pretty car-toon racer will not have online support for its UK release. This is a shame considering it's an online title... we must now make do with split screen alone. This obviously makes the chat room redundant, and at best reduces the parts market to a memory car novelty. Japanese gamers can go online to trade tune bits as well as to race, which presumebly helps assauge the pain of driving 1000bhp skylines all day, but us rain-soddened UK players will never know the joy of beating another driver with the exhaust he just sold you because it was 'too slow'. So to speak.

The ommision seems tragic, but Capcom isn't entirely to blame - Sony continues to drag its feet over online functionality. It can hardly be included if the necessary specs aren't even set. That said, if it plays as good as it looks, Auto Modelista could be a hit anyway. We live in hope."

There we go. So it looks like Capcom were struggling to set the online game up because they didn't know what the UK hardware would be like.

it's funny that there is more information on the PS3 than the PS2 online plans so it makes me wounder if maybe it's worth getting the PS2 modem and hard drive.
