Copying and pasting it messed everything up, so I had to go through the entire thing putting gaps between dialogue and action etc. If there's some stuff still mixed up, I apologise. Doesn't look like a real script on this, as it got messed up, but in reality it looks just like a film script.
EXT means exterior, and it's used to show a new scene (telling you where it is)
O.S means offscreen, meaning the person talking can't be seen
The characters speak in geordie. I basically wrote it the way it's pronounced, so most of it looks REALLY weird. Just pronounce it the way it's spelt and it should sound fine (not that you'll understand it anyway, most likely)
I'm sure I've mis-spelt Michael a few times, just ignore those, heh
So give me some feed back. I know it looks big, but that's because there's spaces between everything, so honestly, it won't take long to read. Tell me what's good, what's bad, what's God-awful. Tell me what I should add, what I should take out, what you didn't understand, what could be better etc. etc. Since I wrote it, I can't really judge it. This is just an early draft, it'll go through about a thousand re-writes before I film it, so I can change anything and everything
EXT - SHOPS - NIGHT
We see a long row of shops, and a group of people enter the shot. SARAH is walking as quickly as she can, occasionally glancing over her shoulder at a group of lads walking just behind her at an equally fast pace. The lads, WAYNE, DARREN and DEREK are holding bottles and cans of beer.
WAYNE
Aw, howay, just give me mate a kiss, he really likes yuh!
DARREN
Aye, come on!
SARAH
Please, just go away.
WAYNE
It's late, ye need someone tu walk yuh home.
SARAH
(desperate)
Go away!
DARREN smashes his bottle on the floor and grabs SARAH by the arm, pulling her around. She looks terrified.
DARREN
(furious)
Yor gonna fudgin' kiss me mate, then me, then Derek, and everyone else fudgin' here, do yu hear us?
The lads shout over each other.
WAYNE
Get her top off!
DEREK
Nor, man, gang for a' knickers!
DARREN
Get rid of that fudging bag!
SARAH is screaming but DARREN slaps her and DEREK claps a hand over her mouth. From the other side of the street, MICHAEL sees the commotion, and, letting his bag drop to the floor, he runs across the road and up to the gang.
MICHAEL
Hey, get off her!
The lads ignore him, and now have SARAH on the floor, and are working on her belt. MICHAEL pushes DARREN and he lands on the floor.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
I said get off her!
DARREN
Fudge off!
DARREN gets up and shoves MICHAEL away. MICHAEL throws a punch at DARREN's face. DARREN looks stunned slightly, but then starts throwing punches of his own. SARAH is still struggling on the floor, trying to push off her attackers. After dodging a series of punches, MICHAEL knocks DARREN down, drags DEREK off SARAH and kicks WAYNE onto his back. He pulls SARAH to her feet.
MICHAEL
(urgently)
Come on!
He practically carries her along the road, before she gathers her senses and begins to run herself. He keeps her in front of him and is constantly urging her to run faster. He chances a glimpse behind him and sees the lads are charging after them at full speed.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
In here!
He picks her up by the waste and turns into the alley, before urging her to start running again. They come up to some bins, and crouch behind them. He peers around, and sees the lads reach the top of the alley. They slowly walk down, looking around. Just as WAYNE nears the bin, a door is slammed somewhere across the road.
DARREN
That's them, howay!
The lads rush back down the alley and run off across the road. SARAH is crying quietly, whimpering.
MICHAEL
(catching his breath)
You alright?
She doesn't answer.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Are you OK?
He pulls her around to face him.
MICHAEL
Did they hurt you?
She keeps her eyes down. MICHAEL sighs and stands up, looking nervous. He scouts out the door by them, only to find it's locked. Just as he is about to walk down the alley back towards the road, SARAH speaks.
SARAH
(through the tears)
I'm OK
MICHAEL rushes to her side.
MICHAEL
Come on, we have to get out of here... Do you live nearby?
She shakes her head "no".
MICHAEL
(looking around)
I'm not sure where we are, I only came down this way because I heard those radgies shouting... I usually get a bus and- OK, wait here.
He cautiously approaches the end of the alley where they came in.
MICHAEL
(peering around the wall)
I don't see them, but I don't think it's safe to stay here... Hey, wait, do you have a mobile phone?
He gets no answer, so he goes up and kneels by her.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
I need to know, do you have a phone?
Again, she shakes her head.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Blast... I've got mine, but it's in me bag back there. I'll have to go get it, stay here.
As he goes, she holds on to his t-shirt.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
I've got to go, I'll be right back, I promise.
She looks up for the first time.
SARAH
(whispering)
Don't leave me.
MICHAEL
OK... OK, come with me, but stick by my side.
He helps her up then leads her by the hand as they walk up the alley. He checks around to see if anyone is there, and then hurriedly walks back the way they came, across the road and up to his bag which is lying in a puddle on the pavement. He frantically unzips it and starts rummaging around inside. SARAH stands by him, looking around. Suddenly there is a shout, followed by replies. SARAH and MICHAEL freeze after they turn to see where the voices are coming from.
DARREN (O.S.)
How, ye!
MICHAEL
Come on!
He pushes her in front of him and slings the open bag over his shoulder. The contents spill out as they run. The gang of lads appear behind them and are running, head down. MICHAEL looks around, desperate to see somewhere to hide. He turns them both left and down a small pathway, with wooden fencing on either side. He throws his bag over and starts to pick up SARAH by the waist.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Up here, quickly!
He helps her up, then scrambles over himself. They're both breathing heavily as they collapse on the floor, leaning against the fence. He puts his finger to his lip, motioning for her to be quiet. From the other side of the fence, they can hear the lads speaking.
DARREN
(O.S)
How, Wayne, jump over, have a deaks, see if thu there.
WAYNE
(O.S)
Fudge off, ye de it!
DARREN
(O.S)
Derek, ye get up there.
DEREK (O.S.)
Aw, hey man!
DEREK pulls himself up onto the fence, a few feet from where MICHAEL and SARAH are sat. A security light on the building turns on, blinding DEREK, who almost falls off the fence.
DEREK (CONT'D)
Curses!
WAYNE (O.S.)
Get down, yu fudgin' idiot!
DEREK drops down on the other side.
WAYNE (CONT'D) (O.S.)
Howay, we'll check the park.
The lads run off.
MICHAEL gives a sigh of relief. He looks SARAH up and down. She has a small cut above her eye and a trickle of dried blood. MICHAEL puts his hand to the wound.
MICHAEL
You're bleeding.
SARAH
(wincing)
I'm alright... What... what are we going to do?
MICHAEL
(checking his bag)
They'll be looking for us all night, and they've probably phoned their mates, so there'll be more of them. We'll have to walk around, see if we can find a phone box or a car. (pause) Blast, me phone isn't in here, it must've fallen out. (looking around) Don't think I can risk going back for it... OK, we'll wait here a bit, then head off, that OK?
SARAH
Yeah...
MICHAEL
I'm Michael by the way.
SARAH
(smiling nervously)
I'm Sarah.
MICHAEL
Well, Sarah, let's see if we can't get you home. Where do you live?
SARAH
Battle Hill
MICHAEL
(pausing to think)
Right, I think I can get us there... Or do you know a way of getting there from here?
SARAH
No, I was waiting for a bus when those boys came up...
MICHAEL
(standing up)
I don't think we can wait for one now, we should keep moving... (peering over the fence) OK, I think they've gone, we'd better get going. No point in taking this. (he drops the bag on the floor) With any luck we'll find a house. (he looks at his watch) Jesus, it's almost midnight, hope they don't mind being woken up... (pause) That, that was supposed to be a joke... Never mind.
He helps SARAH up and they climb over the fence. They start walking down the alley between the shops.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
So... what are you doing down this end of Newcastle?
SARAH pauses before answering.
SARAH
I was visiting my boyfriend...
MICHAEL
Oh... Does he usually let you go home by yourself?
SARAH
What are you getting at?
MICHAEL
Nothing... It's just if you were MY girlfriend, I wouldn't let you walk around here at night.
SARAH
(snaps)
It's only a short walk to the bus station! Nothing like this has ever happened before!
MICHAEL
OK, OK... I'm sorry, I just meant-
SARAH
It's none of your business! Look, I'm sure I can make it home by myself, you don't have to do this!
MICHAEL stops and turns her around to face him. He holds her by the arms.
MICHAEL
(firmly)
Those kids are all over the place. They're probably in a car by now, just driving up and down, looking for us! Now, if you don't want my help in getting you out of here in one piece, then that's fair enough with me. But if I were you, I'd appreciate any help I could get.
He walks off, she hurries to catch him.
SARAH
Wait! Michael, wait! I'm sorry, it's just...
MICHAEL
Forget it. Come on, we'd better pick up the pace.
SARAH
What... What happens if they find us?
MICHAEL
Well, I guess I'll try and fight them off...
SARAH
All of them?
MICHAEL
If I have to.
SARAH
Are you any good?
MICHAEL
At what?
SARAH
Fighting.
MICHAEL
I was just on my way home from boxing when I came across you and those lads.
SARAH
(smiling)
You box?
MICHAEL
And what's wrong with that?
SARAH
(trying to hold back her smile)
Nothing, you, you just don't look the type...
MICHAEL
Well I managed to get those kids off you, didn't I?
SARAH
Yeah, I suppose you did... So what made you want to take up boxing? You look like you'd be more at home on a computer.
MICHAEL
It's that exact reaction that made me want to start. Got sick of people assuming I was a "softy". (hey, it's hard to think of non-swearing replacements)
SARAH
No offence, but you don't look very hard.
MICHAEL
Oh, I'm glad I have your confidence!
SARAH
Well you're not very big...
MICHAEL
Well, I've only been working out a couple of years. Started going boxing a few months ago.
SARAH
Ever knock anyone out?
MICHAEL
(checking behind him)
Naaa, haven't been in the ring properly yet.
SARAH
Why not?
MICHAEL
I dunno, just haven't.
SARAH
Still can't believe someone like you does weights and goes boxing. I bet you're really good in school, aren't you?
MICHAEL
Not particularly, no.
SARAH
Oh... well you look-
MICHAEL
Like a swot?
SARAH
I wasn't going to say that!
MICHAEL
Yes you were. It's OK, almost everyone thinks that.
They walk for a while, staying silent.
SARAH
(breaking the silence)
Listen, do you know where we are?
MICHAEL
Nope.
SARAH
Do you know where we're going?
MICHAEL
No, not really.
SARAH
So we're lost?
MICHAEL
I have a feeling once we pass these old shops, we'll come across a main road. There should be a car or something we can stop.
SARAH
So you've never been down here before?
MICHAEL
Naa, I try and stay clear of this place. Too many radgies. Surprised you've never run into trouble here before tonight, actually.
SARAH
Well, I've had kids shout at me before, wolf whistles, that sort of thing, but not... not like what happened tonight.
MICHAEL
It's OK, I think we're safe now. Come on, I think I heard a car.
EXT - MAIN ROAD - NIGHT
MICHAEL and SARAH come out of the alleys and onto a main road. The occasional car rushes past on both sides. MICHAEL tries waving for them to stop.
MICHAEL
(as the cars go past)
Hey! Stop!
SARAH
It's no use, is it?
MICHAEL
I'll, erm, I'll stand in the road, that way they have to stop.
He walks onto the road and starts waving his arms as a car approaches, playing dance music. The car stops and MICHAEL jogs up to the window.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Hi, look, we need you to take us to a police station, or-
DARREN
Get 'im!
The driver grabs MICHAEL by his collar through the open window as two other lads get out of the car and run around to him. They start punching him in the ribs and head. SARAH runs up and starts hitting them, screaming at them to stop. MICHAEL bangs the driver's hand off the car, then tries to cover himself from the other attackers. In a single motion he pulls one of them around so he's blocking the other, and MICHAEL starts throwing punches. As soon as he can, he runs, shouting at SARAH to run ahead of him. One of the lads grabs his leg, but MICHAEL shakes him off, then runs and catches up with SARAH. Meanwhile, the boys have jumped back into the car and are in hot pursuit. MICHAEL drags SARAH off the road and into some bushes.
MICHAEL
(pushing SARAH up the fence)
Quick! Over the fence!
EXT - BACK GARDEN - NIGHT
They clamber up and drop over the other side. They hear the roar of the car engine, and the tyres screech as it stops on the other side of the fence. The dance music stops as they turn the engine off and get out.
DARREN (O.S.)
Howay, get over!
MICHAEL
Shoot! Come on, we have to get out of here!
He leads SARAH by the hand as they run towards the house, and start banging on the back door. No-one answers.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Fudge! Howay, 'round the front!
They rush down the side of the house, and MICHAEL starts banging on the door. A light comes on inside.
MICHAEL
(to himself)
Come on... hurry up!
As they wait, nervously, the lads start running down the side of the house. MICHAEL sees them.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Fudge!
He pulls SARAH with him as he runs down the driveway. Just as the lads pass the front of the house and down the driveway after them, the door opens and an elderly woman looks around.
MAN (O.S.)
Who is it?
WOMAN
(peering around)
Nobody.
MAN (O.S.)
Then get back inside, woman, it's bloody freezing!
She looks around one last time, then goes back in and shuts the door.
EXT - STREET/CUL-DE-SAC - NIGHT
The lads are running down the cul-de-sac. Finally they stop.
WAYNE
Where the fudge are thu?
A police siren can be heard, getting closer.
DEREK
Leg it!
The lads sprint down the road. Just where they were standing are some wheelie bins, which open and MICHAEL and SARAH climb out, almost toppling them over. SARAH starts flicking bits of wet paper off her clothes with disgust.
SARAH
Urgh, disgusting.
MICHAEL
Sorry, if I'd known the bag was ripped in that one, I woulda got in mesel'.
SARAH
(cynically)
Yeah, right. So, are we gonna knock on these doors?
MICHAEL
Na, I think I know this place, it's full of old people. They'll all be in bed.
SARAH
Can't we just-?
MICHAEL
We'd need a tank to wake them up, trust me.
SARAH
What about that police car we heard?
MICHAEL
I can't hear it anymore, can you? They must've been going somewhere else. (looks around) Hey, is that a phone box?
SARAH's face lights up and they jog to the end of the street where the main road starts.
EXT - MAIN ROAD, BY A CHURCH - NIGHT
The glass is smashed on the phone box, and the smile on SARAH's face soon fades as MICHAEL picks up the receiver to see the wire has been cut.
MICHAEL
Typical. OK, um... I think I've been down here in the car before, there's a load of houses down there, we should be able to-
The distant sound of dance music blaring from a car, drowning out the engine, catches their attention.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
It's them! In here!
He motions for her to climb over the wall into the cemetery of the church. They both climb over and sit on the floor, backs against the wall.
MICHAEL (CONT'D)
Stay down!
They remain totally silent as the car blasts past them. The music fades as the car speeds away.
MICHAEL
(sighing with relief)
OK, come on.
They jog through the gate and back to the phone box. They hear tyres screeching, then the music getting louder again. The car comes shooting towards them, onto the path. MICHAEL and SARAH start running. The car veers to the left, clipping MICHAEL's leg. He tumbles over and the car's wheel just skims his side as he lies on the floor.
SARAH
(screaming)
Michael!
MICHAEL slowly manages to pull himself up, trying to get his senses back. The car u-turns and starts toward them again. SARAH jumps onto the path and MICHAEL runs to join her just as the car zooms past him, narrowly missing him once more. The engine revs loudly as the driver u-turns again.
SARAH
(looking around)
In here!
SARAH pushes MICHAEL through the gate of a house on their side of the road. They run through the garden, partially hidden from view by foliage. The car stops and the doors are heard being opened and slammed shut. The lads run into the garden themselves, almost tripping over the plant pots etc that are scattered across the lawn. SARAH and MICHAEL reach the end of the garden, and see a large fence, too high to climb.
SARAH (CONT'D)
No!
MICHAEL
(looking around)
Um.... here, I'll help you up!
MICHAEL boosts SARAH up and she manages to climb over the fence and turn around to help pull MICHAEL up. They both drop down onto the other side of the fence.
EXT - FRONT GARDEN - NIGHT
A large dog stares at them, a curious look on its face.
MICHAEL
(nervously, as they edge past it)
Good boy... good boy....
They pass the dog and start running again
SARAH
(turning her head)
Do us a favour and bite those lads!
The three lads have clambered up the fence, and they jump off, landing hard on the concrete.
WAYNE
Argh! Blast!
DARREN
(in pain)
Fudge me!
They pull themselves together and stand up, only to be confronted by the huge dog, which starts growling at them. The lads back up against the wall.
DEREK
(terrified)
Throw that stick!
CUT TO -
MICHAEL and SARAH are running past the house, and hop over another fence into another front garden. MICHAEL is limping severely.
MICHAEL
(out of breath)
In.... in here!
He leads her into a front porch. She starts banging on the front door and ringing the doorbell, before MICHAEL picks up a note on the floor.
MICHAEL
(reading, catching his breath)
"No milk for two weeks... please." Looks like... nobody's home.
SARAH
(worried)
Shall we try next door? Those lads could come by any second now-
MICHAEL
Na, I think that dog'll have 'em scared poopless. They're probably in their radge-mobile again by now, blasting blasted dance music.
SARAH
Alright. And I happen to like dance music by the way!
MICHAEL
Oh not you too? How can you stand that pap?
SARAH
It's good! So what do you listen to? Slipknot I bet!
MICHAEL
Yeah, right, I love their big masks and screaming. (pauses) I like a bit of everything, really.
MICHAEL starts looking around as SARAH speaks.
SARAH
I love music, I've always got my CD player on.
MICHAEL
(ignoring her, staring over her shoulder)
Yeah, that's all very nice, but I think we'd better be going.
SARAH
(worried)
What? Why?
MICHAEL
Come on...
MICHAEL leads her down the driveway and onto the road. He looks around, suspiciously. Suddenly, two headlights blind them, and they hear an engine revving. The car shoots towards them, and MICHAEL pushes SARAH out of the way before diving onto the pavement himself as the car flashes past them. MICHAEL drags SARAH up and they run across the road and up a street. The car can be heard coming back.
MICHAEL
Up here!
They run up a path which leads them to a dirt track. They see the sign for the METRO, and they head towards it.
MICHAEL
There won't be any metros at this time, but maybe we can call for help.
MICHAEL presses the call button on the aid on the wall. They can hear a distorted voice.
VOICE
(muffled and plagued with static)
Hello?
MICHAEL
Hello?
VOICE
(barely audible)
Yes?
MICHAEL
Help, you have to phone the police-
VOICE
Can I help you?
MICHAEL
Yes! Phone the police, a girl has been attacked, we-
VOICE
Hello? Is anyone there?
MICHAEL
(banging the speaker with his fist)
Hello? Hello? (to SARAH) Piece of poop...
SARAH
Try the emergency button!
MICHAEL hits the emergency button and waits. He presses it again, still nothing.
MICHAEL
Typical! Come on, we'll try the one on the other platform.
He starts to lead her across the tracks to the other side when they hear shouting.
DARREN (O.S.)
There they are! Howay!
MICHAEL
Shoot! Come on!
He leads her back the way they came as the lads run up and start to cross from the other side of the platform. MICHAEL and SARAH run down the other way of the dirt path and turn left into some bushes. They duck for cover as the lads run past, oblivious.
MICHAEL
(whispering)
They're gone.
SARAH
(whispering)
What now?
MICHAEL pulls his arm out from under him and stares at his watch.
MICHAEL
Almost half past. Metros don't start for another few hours, don't know about busses.
SARAH
I know! My friend was lost once, so he just walked along the metro lines all night 'till he got to the station by his house, we can try that.
MICHAEL
Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Erm, we'll wait to make sure those lads are long gone, then we'll head back to the metty station. We might see a phone at one of the stations or something.
SARAH
Finally! My parents are probably calling the police right now! Maybe they're out looking for me.
MICHAEL
Let's hope so. It'll save us this "annoying" walk.
SARAH
I wish my boyfriend was here, he'd know what to do.
MICHAEL
Oh, thanks.
SARAH
No, I mean, like, he'd have his phone so we could just call the police.
MICHAEL
Well how come you don't have yours?
SARAH
I left it charging...
MICHAEL
The one time you actually NEED it, and you don't have it.
SARAH
I know. So can we go now?
MICHAEL
(peering over the bushes)
Um, yeah, I think so, wait here.
MICHAEL stands cautiously, checking the horizon.
MICHAEL
OK, I think we can go. Come on.
SARAH gets up, brushing the mud from her jeans. MICHAEL takes one last look around, then they start walking back along the dirt track towards the metro station.
SARAH
What's the next stop? Like, what station will we get to first?
MICHAEL
I dunno, I think it's Four Lane Ends or Longbenton or something. I don't think it's far.
They reach the station and drop down onto the track. They start walking along the tracks, occasionally stumbling.
SARAH
Why aren't there any cars on the road? It's not that late.
MICHAEL
Aye, I divvent knaw what's up with that.
SARAH
(smiling)
Sounds funny, you talking geordie with that posh accent.
MICHAEL
What accent?
SARAH
You, it's like geordie, but it's not.
MICHAEL
Yeah. I always thought I had a geordie accent, but the kids at school picked up on it, said I was posh.
SARAH
Did you just hit them, tell them to shut up?
MICHAEL
Wish I could. Back then I was dead skinny. You know, the kind of kid even the fat kids pick on.
SARAH
Did you get picked on a lot?
MICHAEL
Yeah, you could say that. People were always stealing my stuff, throwing it around, calling me names, giving me dead legs, which bloody hurt by the way, but then you wouldn't know much about that.
SARAH
What do you mean?
MICHAEL
Well I bet you never got picked on.
SARAH
Well, nor.
MICHAEL
Actually, you were probably the type who made fun of the unpopular kids. No offence.
SARAH
Well, I did call some people some names when I was younger. Not like it matters.
MICHAEL
Doesn't it?
SARAH
It's just name calling, everyone gets it.
MICHAEL
Did you?
SARAH
(thinks)
No.
MICHAEL
There you go then. How do you know it doesn't matter if you've never had it done to you?
SARAH
Well it's just some name calling, why would it bother someone?
MICHAEL
You've never seen those reports of people killing themsels' because they've been getting bullied?
SARAH
Well yeah, but-
MICHAEL
Some people just can't take abuse, even if the kids are just messing around and don't really mean it.
SARAH
I never thought about it like that...
MICHAEL
(looking around)
Most don't, not unless they've been picked on themselves. Come on, let's pick up the pace.
MICHAEL and SARAH begin walking faster
EXT - METRO STATION - NIGHT
MICHAEL and SARAH climb up onto the platform, and dust themselves off.
MICHAEL
Howay, we'll have a look around.
They walk up the escalator, which is switched off, and reach the ticket machines.
MICHAEL
Hmm, there might be some houses around here, we'll try knocking on some doors.
SARAH
I think I see some down there. Can we rest a bit first? I'm knackered.
They both lean against the wall.
SARAH
(sighing)
Oh, I miss Steve.
MICHAEL
Steve? That your lad?
SARAH
Yeah.
MICHAEL
Jeebus, you just left his house not long ago.
SARAH
I know, but I miss him.
MICHAEL
Ah, don't worry, you'll probably see him tomorrow.
SARAH
If I ever get home.
MICHAEL
Oh you'll get home. You've come this far, haven't you?
SARAH
Yeah, I suppose.
MICHAEL
(coughing)
Come on, we'd better get moving...
SARAH
Just another minute? I mean we're safe here, aren't we?
MICHAEL looks around with his eyes.
MICHAEL
Yeah, those lads have probably given up by now, gone home for a can of Vyborg and a tab.
SARAH
(smiling)
Yeah... I don't think Steve will let me walk to the bus stop after this.
MICHAEL
He shouldn't have let you walk there anyway, not around here.
SARAH
Oh shut up! You don't know him. He'd never let anything happen to me!
MICHAEL
Something DID happen to you.
SARAH
What, you want a medal or something?
MICHAEL
No...
SARAH
Then just forget it. He didn't know this was gonna happen. God, you're just like my dad, overprotective. You don't even know me, why are you doing this?
MICHAEL
Doing what?
SARAH
This! Helping me out!
MICHAEL
I dunno, not like I have anything better to do...
SARAH stares at him
MICHAEL
Alright. I just don't want to see anything happen to you, that's all. What sort of person would I be if I'd just walked by?
SARAH
Are you this protective over your own girlfriend?
MICHAEL
No... Don't have one.
SARAH
Oh. Well...
MICHAEL
Don't give me the "I'm sure you'll get a girlfriend" speech, heard it before.
SARAH
Actually, I was going to ask about your ex.
MICHAEL
Don't have one.
SARAH
Oh...
MICHAEL
Now would be the perfect time for that speech.
SARAH
(smiling)
Well, I'm sure you WILL get a girlfriend. You seem nice enough.
MICHAEL
Nice guys finish last.
SARAH
No they don't! My Steve is dead canny.
MICHAEL
In high school it was always the "richards" who got the lasses. The kids who made fun of the kids like me.
SARAH
It's just the dumb blondes that end up with them. They soon realise there are better lads out there.
MICHAEL
Not from what I've seen. No matter how badly they were treated, they'd never leave them. I could never understand that.
SARAH
Well they're in love.
MICHAEL
How can you love someone who cheats on you, or even hits you?
SARAH
Well I dunno, they just do.
MICHAEL
Doesn't matter how much a "richard" a lad is, if he's good looking, he'll always pull.
SARAH
(defensively)
That's not true! Personality matters more than looks.
MICHAEL
Well it pees me off, knowing some people will live happier lives just because they're better looking.
SARAH
Why do they live happier lives?
MICHAEL
Because they get all the nice lasses!
SARAH
So that's what's important in life? Having a nice looking girlfriend?
MICHAEL
No, but-
SARAH
You seem to want the girls to go with people for their personality instead of their looks, but you would choose a nice looking lass over someone with a better personality?
MICHAEL
That's not what I mean... Aw, forget it, let's go.
MICHAEL and SARAH start walking. SARAH has a smug look on her face.
MICHAEL
You can stop smiling you know. I gave up arguing because I can't be "bothered".
SARAH
Sure you did. Come on, admit it, you have double standards.
MICHAEL doesn't answer, instead he stops dead in his tracks, staring ahead of him. SARAH stops and turns to face him.
SARAH
Go on, admit it!
MICHAEL
(whispering)
Come on, we have to go...
SARAH
(worried)
What is it?
MICHAEL
Over there...
MICHAEL points to across the street, where a car is parked with the doors open. A group of lads are leaning against the wall, smoking. SARAH takes a few steps back, towards MICAHEL, who takes her by the hand and starts to lead her back to the station.
DARREN
(O.S)
How! That's them!
Without turning to look, MICHAEL and SARAH burst into a run, MICHAEL holding SARAH's hand. Just as they reach the entrance to the station, MICHAEL turns left, dragging SARAH with him. They run down the slope towards a roundabout. The lads are in pursuit, but when they reach the roundabout, they can't see MICHAEL and SARAH.
DEREK
Where ar' thu?
DARREN
(pointing in various directions)
Here, ye gang that way, ye gang up there, and ah'll gang down there.
DEREK
Reeght.
WAYNE
Hang on, ah' need a slash.
DARREN
(motioning to DEREK)
Howay.
DARREN and DEREK run off in opposite directions. WAYNE heads for the nearest building and starts urinating against it after looking around to see if anyone is watching. MICHAEL taps him on the shoulder, and as he turns around, MICHAEL punches him in the face. WAYNE stumbles back and slides down the wall, looking dazed.
MICHAEL
Come on!
MICHAEL leads SARAH by the hand as they run past DARREN who still has his pants down and is urinating on his leg, his eyes half shut. MICHAEL and SARAH keep running until they reach a school. They stop try to catch their breath.
SARAH
(still out of breath)
Is that... is that a security camera? Maybe someone's watching it!
MICHAEL
Na, they're for surveillance, they only get watched if they find something vandalised the next day.
SARAH
Oh.
SARAH sits down, MICHAEL stays standing, bent over, breathing heavily.
SARAH
What now?
MICHAEL
We can't stay here, this is a pretty obvious place to hide. We'll, um... we'll have a walk around, there's bound to be some houses nearby.
SARAH gets up, looking exhausted.
SARAH
God, this can't be happening...
MICHAEL
What?
SARAH
(getting worked up)
This! Everything that's happened tonight! I was almost bloody raped tonight! And as if that wasn't bad enough, I've been running through the streets for the past hour, trying to escape a bunch of radgies who probably want to slit our throats! Why me?!
MICHAEL
Well, I guess they would've attacked any nice looking girl that had walked by. You were just unlucky...
SARAH
(getting louder)
Unlucky? Unlucky?! God, I probably won't live through the night! Unlucky isn't the right word!
MICHAEL
Calm down, Sarah, they'll hear you.
SARAH
I hope they bloody do! I wish they'd just come up here and put me out of my misery! I'm sick of this doo-doo!
MICHAEL walks up and grips her firmly by the wrist. He stares into her eyes.
MICHAEL
Come on, you know you don't mean that. You're going to be home this time tomorrow, lazing around in bed, wondering why you got so worked up. Your family will make a big fuss over you, and you'll be the centre of attention. And look at it this way, it's a great story to tell your kids.
SARAH laughs and puts her arms around him. They hug for a moment before he pulls away, suddenly looking guilty.
MICHAEL
(clearing his throat)
We'd, um, we'd better get going.
SARAH sighs. They take two steps before they hear music blaring. They turn to see the car blasting down the road towards them. MICHAEL looks around before leading SARAH behind a building. The car circles the car park, then stops and the lads get out to lean against the car.
DEREK
Fudging heck, your pants stink!
WAYNE
Fudge off! Here, Darren, what the fudge are wu deing here?
DARREN
I'm not letting that "richard" get away.
WAYNE
Thu could be anywhere! Fudge this, I'm off.
WAYNE goes to sit back in the car but DARREN grabs him by his shirt and slams him against the car.
DARREN
Yor not ganging anywhere! Yu coming with us, and we're gonna look all bloody night if wu have tu.
WAYNE
Aw, hey man!
DARREN
Howay.
The lads start getting back in the car, just as MICHAEL and SARAH start backing up, moving further away from them. One of them kicks over some empty beer bottles by accident, and they both freeze. DARREN looks like he heard it, as he freezes too, half his body in the driver's seat.
WAYNE
Howay man, get in!
DARREN
Hang on! I'll be back in a minute.
DARREN cautiously heads towards MICHAEL and SARAH, who stay hidden. DARREN scans the area as he walks, and he ends up right next to MICHAEL, without knowing he's there. DARREN shrugs and turns around to head back, but as he turns he sees the two, huddled against the wall.
DARREN
How!
MICHAEL pushes DARREN over before grabbing SARAH and starting to run. The remaining lads get out of the car and start chasing them as DARREN gets up, looking angry.
EXT - STREETS - NIGHT
It starts to rain. MICHAEL and SARAH are running as fast as they can, two of the lads chasing them in the distance, DARREN slightly further behind. All three of them are gaining on the two runners. MICHAEL stops and takes SARAH by the arms.
SARAH
(frantically)
What are you doing?!
MICHAEL
Keep going!
SARAH
Come with me!
MICHAEL
No! Go on, get going!
SARAH
I'm not going without you!
MICHAEL
I'll be right behind you, I promise. Just go! Now!
MICHAEL pushes SARAH and she grudgingly starts to run, slowly gathering speed. MICHAEL turns around just as the lads reach him. He throws a punch which DEREK runs into, knocking him down. WAYNE goes to punch him but MICHAEL dodges it and knees him in the stomach before elbowing him in the back and running him into the wall. We see SARAH has stopped running and is at the end of the street, watching, looking worried. Suddenly MICHAEL is grabbed from behind, as DARREN has arrived and begins to attack him. They exchange blows but no-one gets the upper hand. Eventually, WAYNE gets back up and punches MICHAEL in the back. He stumbles forward and walks into a punch by DARREN. Now both WAYNE and DARREN are laying into him, and soon DEREK gets up to help. DARREN produces a knife and drives it into MICHAEL's stomach. He gets knocked down to the floor and the lads begin viciously kicking and stamping on him. He looks up to see SARAH take a few steps toward them, looking desperate. MICHAEL reaches out with his hand.
MICHAEL
Run! Ruuuuuun!
SARAH, teary eyed, looks around as if she's not quite sure what to do before she starts to run again. Seeing that she is gone, MICHAEL rolls over onto his back as the camera zooms out, exposing the lads who are still kicking and beating him. They soon stop when they hear a blare of a police siren, and headlights are shone on them. DARREN drops the knife and they scatter. A policeman runs up, wanting to chase them, but instead turns to MICHAEL. He starts speaking into his radio, requesting an ambulance. SARAH timidly approaches, tears streaking down her face. This is the first time we see MICHAEL's face since the lads ran off, and he doesn't look to be breathing. SARAH kneels by his side and holds his hand.
SARAH
(whispering)
Thank you.
The camera pans up, revealing the scene of the policeman still talking into his radio as the distant sound of an ambulance becomes audible. The heavy rain starts to lessen slightly before the screen fades to black and the credits roll.
Copyrighted MoJoJoJo - 2002. Steal this and I will personally hunt you down and make you drink urine.
That's it. Yeah, I know it's a little cliched, but I came up with this concept years ago. Long before Enrique's video for Hero, heh
Michael was origianlly going to be some sort of martial arts kid, but then I'd have to get someone who knew karate or something to play him. By making him a boxer, I can teach whoever plays him everything they need to know, and the fight scenes are easier to choreograph
So tell me what you think. Oh, and try and come up with a title. I'm stumped there
I'm starting a BTEC Media course (worth 3 A levels) tomorrow at college...

Genius
I would do my Byker Grove joke but I can't be bothered.

Oh no! You know my secret!
*note to self, terminate Hercules*
;-)
And yes, before you deny it further, Michael is really you.
;-D
As for the title - "The dude who saved this chick from a bunch of radgies who like to say fudging alot by baffing some of them with sweet right hands and lots of other stuff"
I think you lot should take a look aswell.
Nice MoJo, very nice.
Keep it up.
Oh, and dont forget to include me in the thing when you get into all the making of it and stuff. I'll just be a passer-by or something.
:-D

I'm already getting your details from SR so I can come around your house. Expect to see me tomorrow

Not really, a real feature film is a fair bit more

Not quite

I posted it so I could get more opinons on it (only one of my friends is reading it) as I only have until Tuesday before I have to show it

Yes. Indeed
"MICHAEL leads SARAH by the hand as they run past DARREN who still has his pants down and is urinating on his leg, his eyes half shut. MICHAEL and SARAH keep running until they reach a school. They stop try to catch their breath."
That's a mistake I just spotted by the way. I swopped some of the radgie parts around, that's why it says DARREN there instead of WAYNE, as I must've missed that one when I changed it. Just thought I'd clear that up
"Copyrighted MoJoJoJo - 2002. Steal this and I will personally hunt you down and make you drink urine."
And decided to post in it cos i dont think you will hunt me down cos i heard you a FAGGET, LOL.
Oh i pasted it on Microsoft word proccesor and if i printed it it would come out a 24 pages and that is one big @$$ script, well kinda.
Oh how long did it take you to type all that?
it must have taken at least 6 weeks non-stop.
anyway is that all of the script or is da more?
Oh and if you done bit by bit every day people might just read every single bit of it, oh do you think you will a prize or whatever you win?
:D
