The actual answer to my question was "Two towers". Hence the problem for some people. And the two towers in the book may not be twin, but they are "linked", connected in a way, and they also come under attack as an integral part of the storyline in the LOTR books, I believe. Having never read the books, I can't say that for certain though.
Certainly, to a rational mind, there is no connection though. But snce when have americans been renowned for their rationality?
But I'll let you off this once, since you know that I am right.

I thought you hated pixies.

Mr. Ripper, how alike were the eponymous towers in the book. were they in any way twin. I think not. they weren't even close to each other.
No I realise that you love to argue with everything I say, so I'll let you off this time, after all I'm on holiday so I'm in a good mood :)
er nah
The book by J.R.R. Tolkein is called the Two Towers
The Nickname for the World Trade Centre was the Twin Towers.
THEY AREN'T EVEN THE SAME THING!!!
now run along and get a life......
Anyting to please or otherwise accomodate our ignorant american cousins...
> That is absolutely ridiculous.
I 100% agree it is one of the best series of books ever written and they were wrote before the Twin towers even existed so although it may bring back some bad memories everyone is mature enough to know that it wasn't meant to offend them or anything like that. It was just an unfortunate coincidence that they decided to make the Lord of the Rings around the time of that tragedy.
