I'm going to Glasgow Uni next year but I'm not sure what to do about where I'll kip.

My town is just outside Glasgow so it will be hard if not impossible to get in the Residential Halls... which sucks as it means I need to walk to train station... get train... walk to subway station... get subway... then walk to Univercity which is nearly about 2 hours journey.

I'm only going to be 17 and it's quite young to leave house nevermind go to Uni.

At home I get to stay with my family... have home comforts... don't need to stand on my own two feet completely and such

BUT the travel sucks... it'll be harder to socilise as journey back home... harder to get laid etc

MMmmm

It's only Uni I really want to go to as well

What to do

I'm probably going there too, and my house is pretty near it.

You can stay with me. :-D

I'd at least try for halls. Sounds like if any do meals too, those would be the best option for you.
Your age should give you some sort of priority, and i think if you clarified the difficulties with travelling, they shouldn't hold your location against you.

If you can't get a place in halls, the uni should be able to help you find private accomodation.
Maybe if you got a job at a restaurant part time, you could take their food?

I'd generally recommend moving away from home when going to uni for anyone, i think it must add so much to the experience of being there. Then again, it always depends how the individual feels about it.
But regardless of how nervous you may feel, you will learn to cope, and pretty quickly. It's definitely not as hard as it looks, even if you do have to cook for yourself too.

How come you're going at 17?

Will your parents turn your room into a gym if you move out?
