Got this through today.

MASSIVE article on GTA Vice City. Over 100 vehicles, over 40 weapons, 9 hours of radio, 8000 pedestrian comments, 8 hours of scripted dialogue, an hour and a half of cutscenes. Vice City is double the size of Liberty City, with improved textures, streaming and animations.

The star is not the guy from GTA3, and he actually speaks. Waterways, swamps and beaches, with a big selection of boats. You can visit clothes stores to change clothes. Over 60 'internal' locations - some are simple like AmmuNation, others are places like nightclubs - full internal areas, with things to do inside. The article describes 'Tommy' (the main character) leaving a shop to find someone about to make off on his bike... at which point he rams a screwdriver into the hijacker, who falls off the bike - and tommy switches to a hammer to finish him off.

Targeting has been improved, and you can now crouch when shooting. Improving on the drive-by aspect, on bikes and boats you can now shoot forwards! You can shoot drivers or passengers through the car windows now, and shoot out tyres. Pedestrians are more varied and do more than just walk about, and other criminals also get chased by the cops - so if you hear a siren, they may not be after you!

Oh, and there's a big screenshot of 'Tommy' flying a helicopter...

Elsewhere, there's coverage of Knight Rider, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Sum of All Fears, Big Mutha Truckers, Reign of Fire, Twin Caliber, WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth.

Reviews of The Thing (83), Turok Evolution (71), Eggo Mania (40), Ferrari F355 Challenge (67), Ninja Assault (68), Conflict: Desert Storm (78), Legion: Legend of Excalibur (70), MX Superfly (72), Riding Spirits (70), Onimusha 2 (89), Tekken 4 (90), Disney's Stitch (64), Lethal Skies (63), UFC Throwdown (75).

On the DVD there's footage of Shinobi, Minority Report, Colin McRae 3, True Crime, WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth, Burnout 2, and plenty more. Over 3.5 hours in fact - though I haven't watched it yet!

It's worth getting the mag just for the GTA Vice City coverage though! And NEXT month, they'll have video of it on the DVD. :-)

And this month's is...

Go to the Reviews section, move all the way to the bottom of the second page, and move down again. It's an interview with the technical advisor for Stuntman.

Cheers mate. I think the easter egg is a good idea to get people to buy next months mag, unless like me you have 'contacts' that can tell you :)

And I think i'll stick with PSW. In fact, I got the new one with the Getaway on today.

Thanks.

GTA Vice City looks to be shaping up great. Some of the screenshots of the city look brilliant.

Both mags are great. The OPSM2 is a bit longer though isn't it?

Lasts month's Easter Egg was... a devloper interview for Prisoner of War. Go to Reviews, then Absolute PS2, highlight a top-row letter and press UP.

Oh, and I'd get both PSM2 and PSW if you can - both mags are great, and the DVD's are both outstanding - PSW's probably moreso.

Last month I bought 5 magazines (PSM2 being one) including the two I already get, PSW and OPSM2. Out of all of them I think PSM2 was very impressive but do you think I should get it instead of PSW? The demo disk is vast on PSM2, I'm still watching it! :D

PSM2 verdict:

Gameplay
+ Interesting, ul;tra-tense, with no room for error.
- Dodgy aiming, stealth that the CPU c0cks up for you.

Graphics
+ Varied, authentic-looking locations, lovely textures.
- Plenty of pop-up disguising fog.

Sound
+ Superb sound effects prove a vital part of the game.
- Amusing cockney SAS soldiers.

Lifespan
+ Rock hard - and the co-operative mode is a real bonus.
- Kill;s you off too often through no fault of your own.

Overall
Bags of potential and a palpable sense of fear and tension are undermined by stupid errors that should have been fixed.
