I'm getting worried and quite frustrated now. Nintendo seem to be chucking all the great games out this year, giving as like one month to save up for games like Doshin, which just came out of the blue, and great others. What is coming out next year?? we have loads coming i know, but games like Area 51 haven't had a mention and how do we know that all these are good??? You might say so many good games are coming out this year that you'll be buying them next year, but why wait months for a great game when it's out?? I can only think of Animal Crossing and Zelda for me, any ideas on what great games come out next year??

I was merely doing what I like to do best on here. Chat about games :)

Mind you, if you've seen the topic in FOG Chat called Viva Edgy all about how I'm one of the oldest members here, you'd see my writing styles have changed just slightly. :)

Nice one!

1262 words as a reply to a thread!

Hopefully you should get a GAD for that one!

1262 words...

Wow!

Anyway, I've got to limit myself to Mario Sunshine and that's it, I got A levels next year and I can't distract myself to much!

There are way too many games coming out in such a short space of time, which, although is good for Nintendo, is not so good for the consumer. For Nintendo and the GameCube's third party developers, there's the issue of profits, which will certainly increase as Christmas nears, but for the consumers, there's the issue of debt which is more than likely to be a problem for some in the winter months.

Next month is September, and already there are two games from very popular franchises due to be released. If it's out on it's announced release date, we'll have Turok Evolution first, which is a massive franchise for the Nintendo fans, and will also make big money for Acclaim now that it's out on the Playstation 2 and X-box as well, not to mention the Game Boy Advance is going to host it's own 32-bit version. The Turok series was one of the biggest series of games from a third party developer to hit the Nintendo 64, and for those people who didn't have one, they could only buy the games on the PC, which ofcourse lacked the fun split-screen modes that Turok 2-onwards featured. In the same month, the biggest Capcom release of the year is to be released. The remake of Resident Evil in all it's dark and gloomy beauty. The Resident Evil series has almost become a collectors set for some fans, some who are likely to buy a GameCube just for the remakes and the exclusives that no other consoles is likely to see. Ofcourse Capcom are going to make a fair bit of money on these games and Nintendo are likely to benefit one heck of a lot from the Resident Evil series also. But for the consumers that's roughly eighty-pounds taken from their pockets in one month!

Only three weeks later is the release of what potentially is the biggest most important game Nintendo will be releasing for the GameCube in 2002. Super Mario Sunshine. Said to be the Super Mario World of the GameCube, Super Mario Sunshine is bound to be top of the wishlist for many a GameCube owner, who can't wait to see what it's like riding Yoshi in full 3D action, and finally playing in Mario's first major adventure for six whole years! If a Nintendo fan isn't curious as to try this game atleast once before Christmas, than there must be something wrong with them! Another two major franchises are coming to the GameCube the same month though, according to Special Reserve's database. Both WWE Wrestlemania X8 and Time Splitters 2. Although they've never interested me, the WWF games on the Nintendo 64 were very popular indeed, and the thought of big, ugly, greasy, oiled men grabbing hold of each other in many different ways in the theatre that is the wrestling ring seems to attract many gamers to their consoles as Special Reserve's WWE forum shows. So a GameCube wrestling game is sure to get the juices flowing for many a gamer in the next two months. Time Splitters 2 is also a game that will make many a gamer wet with anticipation! Created by ex-Goldeneye developers it's been said to be full of plenty of quality and fun to attempt to rival the Nintendo 64 hit starring the face of Pierce Brosnan. Time Splitters 2, being a multi-format title, is definately going to sell very well, however, will it sell as well when competing with Super Mario Sunshine in the same month? So if you were to get those three major games, within the space of two months you will have spent two-hundred-pounds! Very good for Nintendo and the third party developers who will be counting the cash, very bad for the consumers.

In november, the biggest release is to be Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Said to be the first major 'adult orientated' release by Nintendo, Sanity's Requiem has already caught the eyes of many a gamer. This game is to bring in a new feature to gaming - a sanity metre. You could do really well at the game but go insane which inturn would make you, as Jim Carrey would put it, a La-Hoo-Se-Her! Many will tell you that this is a must-have game for your collection and they're probably right. However will it cost you more damage to your wallet in getting another game so soon. Yet, as any gamer will tell you, it feels somewhat special to get a game on it's release date than later on when everyone's completed that game before you. So again that's more money in Nintendo's pockets, less in yours.

If the game isn't delayed by another month, December is set to be Rarewares most important month of the year. Every GameCube owner knows about StarFox Adventures, and with Rareware having the reputation of being one of the worlds greatest videogame developers, the release of StarFox Adventures is sure to go very well! For some people, this is bringing more excitement than next year's Zelda game is! StarFox Adventures has often been called the 'Ocarina of Time' of the GameCube
being a similar sort of adventure and being wanted by many. If December really is the final release month for the game, expect it to be sold out everywhere fairly quickly. It is a strategic release and is going to make big profit for Nintendo and Rareware being the top of Christmas lists for many.

But those aren't just the games that are going to be rolling in the profit within the next four months for Nintendo and the third parties concerned. Christmas is drawing very near - the time of year children love but parents and their bank balances dread. December is International Spend month whereas January is National Debt Month. Children will be writing their lists for Santa, and parents will be buying their children whatever they can to make their childhood happy and special for another year. So don't be suprised if the sales of consoles and games that are already on the shelves suddenly increases. Parents aren't all going to be able to buy their sons and daughters everything on their wishlists, and are going to have to make decisions on what games look fun and suitable for their children. This will be the time of year where good sales advisors will be needed in videogame stores (like that's ever going to happen) and where sales of games such as the Fifa series, Simpsons Road Rage and other cartoony games are going to sell well. So although the gamers may not be forking out on lots of games, the parents will be withing the next four months and Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and all the other major videogame companies are going to be drinking their champagne and carving their Christmas turkeys stuffed full of fifty-pound notes.

Saying that, there will still be plenty of gamers, me included, who didn't get all the games they wanted to get in 2002. The early months of next year allow gamers to catch up and increase their collections even more whilst developers continue to slave away to bring out more releases in the Spring months. As has already been mentioned, The Legend of Zelda is going to be a major title in February next year, and will most likely be the first of many big launches for 2003. Sure, the well of new games will be drying up early next year, but the rains of Spring will ensure the gamers have many new titles to quench their thirsts next year.
