"PS2 a Flop Already?"

Oh! Woe is me! I was so looking forward to getting one too. A discussion on an American BBS today was debating the pros and cons of the PS2. Then general consensus is that the current crop of games could just as easily be played on the DC albeit at a slightly slower frame rate. They were saying that it's still not worth buying over there until a larger catalogue of games has been built up.

It's not all doom and gloom though. They agree with the general opinion here that the games will get better as the developers get to grips with the PS2's architecture. However, one PS2 reviewer who borrowed his friend's PS2 and played SSX, Dynasty Warriors and NHL, decided that for the current price ($300!) the PS2 was not worth it and they had decided to hold out for the X-Box.

So, my mind is made up. DC for Chrimbo and hold out for the X-Box. Hmmmm....but then there's The Bouncer, Final Fantasy, Ridge Racer V, Fantavision.....damn!

I didn't mind Wacky Races, apart from the end of each race when all the other racers try to overtake you EVERY TIME!

All I'm saying is that games sometimes turn out better than they sound.

No but i wouldn't pay 30 quid for it now. If i buy a game it has to be fun, longlasting, accurate and technically advanced.

EG. I wouldn't buy Wacky races but i would MSR.

I like to think i have got value for money.

Actually, I'm not sure. Tetris was fun, yes.

Ah. It was packaged with the gameboy when it came out. So people didn't have much of a choice with it.

I love my gameboy. A bit too much though, and it doesn't work anymore.

Humm. I want a Gameboy Advance now though. So I can play on the roof.

Would you have liked the sound of Tetris when you heard that it was a game about blocks that fell to the floor and you had to turn them and make lines?

How about a clay pidgeon shooting game but with real pidgeons which explode like a firework.

It's supposed to be as addictive as Tetris when you get into it. But I have to say it doesn't appeal to me, either.

I suppose it was designed to try and show off PS2's particle calculations, but I'm sure they could have come up with something better.

I'm sorry but what is the point of Fantavision?
It seems to me that it's a developer being over original but not very interesting....clutching a straws maybe.

I suppose atleast it's not yet another sequel on the PS1 & PS2.

Hey, if they try to make it realistic, it will cost a fortune, frighten cats and fizzle out within a few minutes. Oh yeah, and it will probably rain when you try to play it.

Not really interested in Fantasvision, to tell the truth.

I think I'll just bring this to the top...
