Imagine my surprise, then, when they phoned me at around 6:45pm Monday night, to check whether I'd had my letter from Sony etc., and to tell me that they would be opening from 11:00pm on Thursday night until 1:00am Friday morning to allow people to collect their PS2's!!!
They won't actually give them out until midnight, but they'll be laying on coffee etc. and having a chat with all those who go to collect their machines! Cool or what?!
So... guess where I'll be at midnight this Thursday! :-)
Our local EB is in a 'Shopping Mall' so you cannot get in there at night ! (Hence the 7:00am thing in my last post)
So spare a thought for those who have 7 more hours....
PS - Also spare a thought for Kieran, as he is one of the most regular contributors and now has to wait a couple of extra days due to some postal problem. Truely sorry for you Kieran, not gloating.
It's just that, if I'm interested in something, I build up as much personal knowledge as I can.
If there's something I can't find out, I generally expect a "specialist" in the subject to be able to help, or at least point me in the direction of someone else who can. This has not been the case with EB, but I've never been let down by Game. It could well be that this is only the case locally, but it doesn't give a good impression.
By the way, it's not just EB. My local Dixons and PC World are the same, as you may recall from a couple of my previous posts! :-)
Strange, then, that my local EB is staffed mostly by spotty little urks who know next to nothing about anything (at least on Saturday's when I go in there), while my local Game has much more knowledgable staff who actually seem like they may have left school!
Sincere apologies to all you young 'uns reading this, but I get pretty peeved when I go into a 'specialist' shop for help or information and they know less than I do! It's one of my pet hates.
I just wish it'd hurry up!
