They're all more bothered trying to look 'nice' and try their best to be popular and liked that they talk about rubbish.

It's making me annoyed... I've started conversations off about news and things but ends up going back to them because everyone is so self-obsessed or think educating yourself is so 'uncool'.

At least in History we talk about stuff... it's usually only me and teacher having discussion with the typical moron comment.

That's why I like to post here... usually I just read arguments, poems and stories without always replying because it's nice to hear someone elses views except your own.

So keep it up :)

The last intelligent conversation I had with anyone in my year was on a coach to the South of France where we ended up discussing such issues as the merits of Communism and whether the problems in the middle east would subside or escalate.
That'll never happen again...:(

Misterhappy, myself, and the rest of our piers used to have the greatest conversations at school- Darwin vs. Religion, Kubrick vs. Speilburg, Random French films vs. Cronnenburg.

All great stuff.

I know what you mean to well SHEEPY,For most of my class anything that isnt,mobile,soaps,smoke,drugs,sex is considered gay.One or 2 of the boys are good for deep conversasions but other than that its better to be here.Although we seem to enjoy in religious class talkin about stuff like weather or not God is real which should be interestin.

I don't know though, I have been known to get into talks about religion, space/time travel etc. But these usually turn into arguements, so we talk about more grown up things like jugs.....

too right sheepy. most people in my year are complete morons, only talking about cool mobile phones. you know, i couldnt give a toss.

normally I am mostly chatting about jugs. And alan partridge. But mainly jugs....

I rarely get to say what's on my mind politically, or sociologically, as none of my friends are into it as much as I am. I have all this stuff I've learnt in Sociology, and I never get the chance to show off with it, heh

One of my friends knows a lot about British history (especially the wars) so I've had some great conversations about that sort of stuff with him, but the rest of the time with my friends, we talk about who we like and what's going on with the people we know. A bit sad really

Good post, it's nice to know it isn't just my old secondary school, old Sixth Form and not University, where this happens !

Who cares about Terrorism, the Middle East, the stock market e.t.c ? A lot of people can't see how whats happening right now is effecting them e.g.

Stock Market ~ could damage a hell of a lot of peoples pensions and furute investments by companies in the US/UK meaning loss of jobs e.t.c

Middle East ~ Oil, it goes up you pay more at the petorl pump, if War breaks out, and it will in Iraq within a year, then the prices are going sky rocket unless a rapid resolution happens.

Theres loads more, but no one cares, well most don't. Even hisotry doesn't interest most people but if you want to understand the world today then history explains most of it - Terrorism, the famines, Zimbabwe, Middle East, even the Stock Market.
