I fancy getting a 5.1 speaker set that I can wire up to my PC and my PS2. Anyone know of a decent one which I could get my hands on for up to £100? £50 would be nicer!

Thanks

Do you know many other people with Firewire ports? :)
also i've seen the harddrives and they do cost quite a bit, not sure if they were £999+ or more around £300 *shrugs*

The live drives plug into the IDE port type thing on the end of your sound card.

there is a lot of firewire compatible hardware out now, including ver quick hard drives and you can even network pc's with it.

I always thought FIREWIRE was for video cameras where you can just plug it straight into your hard drive and start filming.
Honestly I have no idea, nice choice for soundcard/speakers though, 5.1s nice. (not that i've got it) :)

So iwill it plug in to my SB Live 5.1? How?

On the subject of Firewire:

Yes, it's fast, but the thing about it is, it's often wasted.

Eg: Apple iPod "can transfer a whole CD in 10 seconds over FireWire"

Umm.. hello? 70MB/s read from CD or IDE harddrive? I don't think so! Serial ATA or RAID maybe, but when was the last time you saw one of those?

I've read a few things about Firewire. Isn't it true that it's something like 100x faster than USB but now most of the world has adopted USB, Firewire has had to take a back seat (even though it is vastly superior)?

Including FIREWIRE!

That is called a live drive and it usually come's with the Audigy platinum, but you can buy it seperate to fit onto your pci card, only really needed if you want to plug a lot of things in.

Ta Turbonutter for your help.

I feel a bit sham for not ordering from SR but why pay £40 extra for the same goods? :-)

Ah, the wonder of online shopping.......
