Right there was one thing which ANNOYED me about the N64!
BEAT-em-UPS!
I had LOADS of em on the SNES, but I only ever had a few on the N64, and they weren't half as good as the ones on the SNES!
I had to turn to my PS in the N64 days, for my beat-em-up satisfaction! SHAME! But the same things happening with the Gamecube. There's just no beat-em-ups out there! Admittely there's Capcom Vs Snk EO blahblah at the end of the month which I want. But that's like only 1 beat-em-up! I want a solid 3D beat-em-up like, shame to admit it, Dead Or Alive 3 on the X-Box. That game is fantastic! Why can't we have something like that on the Cube!?!

Soul Calibre 2 isn't so far away.
That's more than a match for the likes of Dead or Alive and Tekken.

Bloody Roar's already out also there's Capcom SNK, Soul Calibur 2, Mortal Combat and a few others.
Virtua Fighter is rumoured too.
Beatemups I find boring anyway, but i'd there are enough.

Ah, mortal kombat. Had it for the snes, great fun. Especially the pit, for the finishing move :^)
I might just give the cube one a run if it gets good reviews. And if i can afford it, of course.
Learning special moves was pretty lame. All part of the magic of ssbm that. Still, you can't put it in the same bucket as mortal combat, street fighter and the like. Actually, i think the 2ders did play better than 3d.

This topic all came about cos a mate of mine came over the other day, and we decided to play some beat-em-ups, and we progressed from the SNES to the Saturn, to the Dreamcast, to the X-Box. And now I'm just really in the mood for some good beat-em-ups. I did read sommin' about the new Mortal Kombat on Gamecube, and that actually looks quite promising. I never use to be that big a fan of Mortal Kombat, because it's far more complicated than Street Fighter. You can't just pick up any old character and be able to pull off most of their moves!

Beat em Ups were so much better when they were 2D, flat gaming with no poncing about with strafing left and right, just solid fighting.
